Have seen several videos using the RO 150 to sand and the polish wood, and it looks like it does a great job.  My question is this:  Does one need to buy the "green" Polishing Pad (498151) in order to use the Titan2, Felt, and Sheepskin to obtain that polished look, or can you get by with the pad that comes with the RO 150?

Thanks, Don

It's good to have the green polishing pad, yes.  It's a smaller diameter than the regular pad, and so there's less danger of marring the surface with the pad itself.  Plus you minimize risk of mixing wood dust with the dedicated polishing accessories like the felt and sheepskin pads.

Haven't used Titan paper before, but I think on these you are supposed to use it with the regular pad.

You do not absolutely need it but as stated above it helps. I've done a lot of wood polishing with mine since I bought all the stuff to do it. There's no finish that will make the wood grain pop like polishing the actual wood

Thanks for the reply.  It's already been a long day for me.  I typed Titan when I meant to type Platin 2.  Just old age.  Thanks again.

Did you get all the sponges, etc?  And do you use the Festool Polishing compounds?

I agree that polishing does wonders for wood grain.  Most of my bowls are finished off by polishing.

I bought the Orange sponge, sheepskin bonnet, all the polish, and up to 1,500 grit paper. I find that usually I sand to 1,500 than apply Renaissance wax and polish the wax with the bonnet. Only sometimes I put 5,000 grit polish on and polish the wood. One thing to do as well is to do a gloss lacqueor and sand that with 1,500 apply another coat and polish the finish to a high sheen as well. Both techniques work well and both have their purposes.

Have you even melted the Renaissance Wax and apply a thin coat, then polish?  This is essentially what happens on the lathe - finish is beautiful.
