Possible new workshop....

Small Update:

Windows and doors plus roller shutter due next week! Still not sorted my wants list of machinery [eek] HSE sent email reply instead of the mailed literature I asked about and totally ignored another question![dead horse] just wait till they pay a visit!  [poke]. ;D

Having trouble finding a dust extraction system that can be set up out doors, less noise in the workshop kinda thinking, I know they exist just not found any yet.

I have a pile of notes that I hope to gather and arrange into something vaguely akin to english, for future reference and possible aid to others, much yet to do and to learn from. [wink]

Well things are moving along, the unit has now got all windows and doors installed and the workshop floor has had three coats of floor paint.
Once the machinery is installed areas around them will get a non slip paint treatment.
Another area of concern has raised it's head, sound insulation! The neighbouring unit is to be used as office space and the floor above the workshop will be too.
I am hoping that the machinery we finally get is of a newer and quieter variety than some 40yr old Wadkins, ideally Felder  ;D but I think I am gonna have to go "hard sell" to get them. (I've been practicing in the mirror... [jawdrop] look scary don't I?)

I have also designed a new workbench and materials cart for the 'shop. The onus for both was for them to be quick and easy to build and use low cost materials, while maintaining functionality. The bench design allows for replacing the top surface as and when required.

I still have a load of other workshop cabinetry to draw up, some of it will have to wait until the 'shop is earning, then there are some must have jigs for the bigger machines.  ;D

I will try and post work in progress reports on the bench and materials cart ( plus anything else that I can grab time to do.) Plans will be posted once the bench/benches is/are built so they are free from any design errors.( I hope)  [laughing]

Further updates will resume after my world tour of Gloucestershire, via my nieces 18th birthday party and Festool world at Axminster Nuneaton, haven't told the missus yet!  [wink]

Nice one Rob, sounds like a good un.  Remember, we all like looking at pics of other workshops so don't be shy  [wink]

I hereby promise pics a'plenty when I actually get to work in there. ;D
And hopefully some W.I.P.'s.  [smile]

Rob,

Can't wait to see the pics.  I know I spend more time cleaning, arraigning and rearranging my shop than I do working on projects.

Starting from scratch on a REAL workshop has got to be absolutely incredible.

Rob,

I have a hospital bed for a material cart, you can put 10 sheets of MDF on it and then jack it up to the height of the saw, it is also perfect for an assemble bench with a ply top, great to work on cabinets when you need to raise or lower for the most comfortable position.....can be picked up real cheap on eBay.

Rob,

Try Fercell or P & J for an outside dust extraction.

Rob, i hate you so much right now  [mad]

Seriously, that is a quality list of machines & look forward to hearing how you get on with them.  I would imagine the Felders would be on a bit of a lead time though.  Think i waited 8 weeks for my planer.

[laughing]  ;D
I'd hate me too!
6 weeks lead time is what I was quoted on initial enquiry, I can't see us being all up and running before late November, any sooner and that's a bonus!
Then we get into the real hard work, making it pay it's way!
