Potentially the most expensive slide (or fire escape?) ever built inside a house

Hey [member=57948]ChuckM[/member] I’ve tried to view the video about 6 times but the link doesn’t work.  [smile]

Interesting, just tried again and I always get this message.

Maybe I need to use the laptop instead of the phone?

Try this one:=youtu.be

Thanks for that Chuck🙏🙏🙏

OMG what a project and the results are outstanding. I really can’t believe that there are not 200+ hits on this video just from the FOG group.

Forum members check it out. This is way beyond properly using a DF 500 or the choice of sandpaper grits on an ETS EC...just imagine how you would produce the working drawings, let alone the finished product.

Another point to note is that it’s significantly less difficult to construct an item in-situ as opposed to designing and building off-site and then reinstalling on-site in a different location. Walls that are wonky, floors that meander, fasteners that need to be hidden. Prepare for the worst because it will be.

I watched the whole thing but still don't know how expensive this ended up. I'll guess $60k?

It is encouraging to see craftsmanship like that.  However, my favorite stairway was one I saw in the Gamble House (of Proctor and Gamble) in Pasadena, CA a number of years ago.  It is a beautiful Arts and Crafts home and the stairway was a true work of craftsmanship.  The stairs fit together like one of those wooden interlocking puzzles we played with as kids.  Architects were Greene and Greene.  I also remember the garage had a turntable to turn the car around since they did not have reverse in automobiles yet.  And remember, this was built before Festool (or most other electrical tools) existed.  Here is a link to the stairs but I see the link does not work. I am technology challenged-I would rather hit something with a hammer than push a button.  So type in the link to see the stairs and the rest of the house.  (The Rose Bowl is north of this house and can be seen from the rear of the house).

This is absolutely incredible workmanship! Two questions:
1. How the heck do you even create a spiral shape like the one at the bottom of the handrail?!
2. I had to do a double-take, but did this guy in the first few seconds seriously freehand batches over batches of ribs for the slide?! I watched it at 0.25 and didn't see him using a template!  [eek]
