Prep to Finish Paint Training Workshops

[member=550]Tinker[/member] thanks for so eloquently and practically capturing the spirit of exactly what I was trying to say, AS USUAL! I could not agree more.

To your question, if you can get enough build in your finish with the wipe on, I would say sure. I'd rather see your brushing and laying some clear out though. I will keep working on you. Please put up pictures of the trestle table (if you haven't already, I've been on limited forum time lately what with it being ipe deck season and all, - kind of like plow season).

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] Thanks! We do publish a lot of good tips (with out giving away all the real "in class magic bullet" secrets :) Always feel free to post up questions.

@ Scott Burt  I started a thread: Table Top
I show some pics there.  Have not had much time to discuss the build or a lot of progress pics.

That's funny...I do know that because I read between the lines [poke], and the magic bullet is valuable. That's ok, because we all need to put bread on the table. I will continue to read between the lines and become better in applying paint.

Point of interest:
About 3-4 months ago I emailed you about using Sherwin-Williams brushes and stated that they were my favorite. You replied that they were a good brush and let the issue drop. However you intimated that Purdy were better brushes. Thinking about that statement,
I decided to purchase some Purdy brushes to paint some existing windows with SW oil based paint.

What a difference, the finished surface almost looks like it has been sprayed. I'm very impressed, would have never thought that a brush would make that large of a difference. [thumbs up]

Hey All

I didn't realize that it had been so long since I'd updated about our training program, but I've had pm and email inquiries from members so I thought I would put out a general update in addition to responding to people privately.

2015 was very busy. We taught in Boston, NYC, Connecticut, Chicago and Dallas.

For 2016, we have dates set in Orlando, New Orleans and of course will return to Providence for JLC Live. Thats all in the first quarter, in addition to vocational school workshops.

By popular demand, we are launching a how to video series that will be free - demonstrating finishing processes and tasks. Looking forward to that.

Also, we are scheduling private training clinics in our Vermont facility. The first will be in mid January. We will be posting up remaining openings for that one soon, but in a nutshell day one will be cabinet grade prep and finish with air assisted sprayers and day two will be same but with HVLP.

We will also be rolling out a brand new Finishing with Festool class in 2016.

In the possible event that I don't remember to update this thread, best bet is to follow on Facebook as things get announced there pretty proactively:

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season.
