[Project 24] Workbench Overhaul

Excellent job Matt!  I love it (and all the thoughtful details) you added to the workstation.

Nice job Matt...now I can see what I'm looking at.  [big grin]  You must be pumped with the results.

Do those levelers have HDPE on the bottom so that the bench can be moved?

Are the MFT's fastened to the ply top?

[member=935]richard[/member]/BMW thank you! Once the Walnut drawer fronts and stainless black pulls are installed, then she'll really be done :)

[member=21249]RKA[/member] thank you sir! Really appreciate it!

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] thank you!! I am super excited. It was quite the long road for me from design to build, probably 3 months or so. I'm super excited to get pulls and drawer fronts installed to really button it up. Yep they do! The benches actually slide well. They're super heavy obviously, so it takes some force, but they do slide well. Especially on my garage floor which is epoxy. Although the 8' black aluminum extrusion connects the two together for added rigidity so you'd have to remove that at this point to move them around. But I used threaded inserts in the top so it's easy and repeatable.

Festools aren't fastened - I'm waiting on new MFT replacement tops (3x) that come today to set all 3 up.

A combination of the Festool MFT connector sets (I have 4 to connect all 4 tables together on both sides), the rubber feet, and the "L" shaped black aluminum "corner" I made for them to sit in means they REALLY do not go anywhere. Like zero slide.

Thanks all for the kind words. Hope to have final pictures up by end of this coming weekend with everything 100% done!

Matt

Hey team! Now that it is built I have a couple things for free to give to you awesome people. Prefer local (bay area California).

3x MFT legs and 3x stabilizer bars.

[member=65062]DynaGlide[/member] already asked for one pair, as did Bob D.

If you guys can just confirm you still want one that would be great.

So That leaves one set left if anyone wants it.

And then my old systainer port - no longer needed because of the workbench.

Casters included if you want them. That one is pickup only of course.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] hahahaaha I don’t know how my wife would like me giving her shoes away.

I can ask though, just for you ;)

Matt

Hang onto the Systainer Port - Systainers have a way of multiplying.  Guaranteed.

I'd personally put the legs in the attic.  We know there will be new tables coming out and you may end up selling those that you have to upgrade - 3-5-7 years into the future perhaps!

[member=167]neilc[/member] - thank you!
yes, not only is "right side up" a big improvement but so is separating images with white space. Totally better comprehension/appreciation possible as a result.

Wow, Matt, you raised the bar for the rest of us!

I'm probably not the only one who could benefit from a new FOG thread explaining how to post images and how to troubleshoot uploading problems.

Any contributors out there willing to step in and help some of us social media challenged folks?  [wink]

Hans

[member=167]neilc[/member]  - thanks for that refresher.
I saved the link for next time!
Hans

Thanks everyone for all the kind words! The last upgrade to the bench I am working on is a way to catch the dust at the end of the track.

I'll post pictures of that setup later this weekend, and then this project is all done and on to 25 :)

Matt
