I am not all that concerned about the box of bricks-rocks comment. I believe I was not trusted, and had hoped the effort I made to return the item at once in a nice box that I paid for with pictures and tracking information proving it was boxed and sent would have allowed a replacement to be sent without delay. I tried to earn trust. When that failed, I had hoped that the offer to pay for the second boom arm up front so one could be shipped as the damaged one was being returned would have provided "seller protection". I had also hoped that since a replacement would not be shipped, the damaged one would have been repaired without the delay that happened. I was never interested in a quick fix with a hammer and by tapping threads. I was just hoping to get a nice product up and working, and the best way would have been for a replacement to be sent when I returned the item and the second best way would have been for it to be shipped back to me the day after receipt since the fix was reported to be simple for the manufacturer. As for UPS, I am not sure about damage claims. https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/claims-support.page?
UPS encourages the shipper to report claims even though buyer or seller can initiate a claim. I would have preferred to do as UPS recommended. No matter what is described, even though I described the package condition in detail), the person receiving the item is always in the best position to describe the condition of the box upon arrival, and so it would seem that if there were a fraud issue with the seller initiating a claim, UPS would have a different policy. However, I am not someone who ships with any regularity and I never completed a claim before. I did file the claim.
I am still hoping that then I get the Prometheus back on Monday, it will work out well. As I mentioned, I do think that RTS Engineering made a nice contribution by developing a product that offers a mid section swivel point, assuming it is durable at the 2 pivot points. I am hoping to provide feedback on this thread when I get it with a focus on the product performance.
Since each party is accusing the other side of lying, it's unlikely that we outsiders will find out the whole story. It's up to each of us to decide which side is telling the truth. As far as I'm concerned, the product itself has no relevance now.

When a person has no qualms about being deceitful, that leaves the other party in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. So I'm pretty much stuck here defenseless.
If I was as evil as this guy makes me sound, then why haven't there been hundreds of similar complaints over the past decade that I've been selling Festool accessories?
