Not sure how that pic got turned upside down.....its rightside up on my phone
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I am surprised you decided to live with the saw like that. I wouldn't even expect this from lesser saws. With the price that i paid i definitely cant live with it like that. I am sure my dealer will take care of me. I spoke with the manager tonight and he is going to rectify the situation.CNX said:Hi Shaneymack,
#1: Yes, mine is exactly like that; the right side groove is higher than the left side. The UG wing sits a bit higher and catches the wood if I slide it from the saw to the wing. I found at least two threads in FOG about it. I contacted Festool. I explained the situation and also asked if they were aware of the multiple threads about it. All they repeated was, "you can return the saw." Who would want to repack the saw, bring it back to the dealer, which is about 1 hour away from home, get another Kapex, and only to find another one also has the same problem? I'm not 100% sold about the idea that the 30-day return policy is a good customer service. I called them up not because I want them to do something for me, but because I thought they would be interested in a report like this. Obviously, I was wrong. Because the height difference is not large and I usually use only the left wing, I just decided to live with it.
#2: I bought an OF1010 from Tool Nut, which was inside a Tool Nut box. I guess Tool Nut packed it well. However, I could see it was handled very rough during delivery. Almost all parts inside the Systainer were out of the place. Some even got scratched.....

Thanks for the links. I cant imagine all kapexes are like this. It must be a bad batch. I would think there would be many more people on here talking about this. I also couldn't imagine everybody doing precision work with a saw whose tables are not coplanar, something that isnt tolerated on any other fine woodworking machines.CNX said:Here are the links;

In the second link, there are multiple users saying "me too".
Because the issue is hard-encoded in the way the grooves are molded in the 1-piece base (not like issues of some parts), I suspect all Kapex are made in this way, but it is just my guess.
I was quite surprised Festool doesn't know this and paid no interest in my report.
No i have not tried that yet. I will and report back....Tom Bellemare said:Did either of you try swapping the extensions from right-to-left to determine if it's the Kapex or the extensions?

Hi Tim, i have looked at this bracket. But, if it is the v groove on the kapex wouldnt it end up being the same problem with this bracket? Or is there a height adjustment on this bracket?Tim Raleigh said:shaneymack said:I spoke with the manager tonight and he is going to rectify the situation.
Yes, Shawn will make it right...you may also want to take a look at the multiblades kape ug bracket.
It's a great way to add a full length adjustable crown stop.

No height adjustment on the bracket, although because it is nylon it can be easily milled.
I was just thinking when you get a new machine with "v" grooves that are even.
The Betterly zero insert is great too, even when you forget and cut a bevel in it.

Glad to hear you are satisfied with the machine! I just finished up assembly. I made a mobile base for the collection bin so i can wheel it out. I thought the 55g drum might get pretty heavy.jacko9 said:shaneymack said:Getting this beast mounted is my first job this weekend...
I know that beast quite well, I installed the V-3000 last year and have been very pleased since with clean air in my shop instead of a cloud of dust and debris. I used unistrut to offset my wall bracket to allow better clearance for the pipe work. I'm not sure if you purchased the fill sensor with your V-System but, I find it pretty handy to have the strop light come on before I overflow my chip barrel.
Sounds like your in Festool heaven with that purchase.
