Recon Tool is starting today (Cont. US Only)

I have purchased tools at the 20% discount, some are in great shape and others not so much.  Has anyone have any pics or experience with the 30% off items?

I grabbed a 30% (really more than that given its value compared to the going rate for the t-loc model) 2200. The cord had been wrapped up and there was a bit of dust trapped under the base plate. Other than that, it looked like a model you'd pull off the shelf at the store.

I took too long to think about it and now the 2200's are all gone. That was a heck of a deal!  Enjoy it!

try this at your own risk, it worked out for me, but i wrap nor warranty nothing.
amazon has a "USED" Festool 574354 EB Router, 2200-Watts, $762.25
still there, i bought one, and it was pristine, no wood chips anywhere but the t-lock knob
was gone, systainers were bouncing around the amazon warehouse shipping box,
but didnt crack it, they also didnt bother with packing material.
alas, it was a win for me, 13pct discount, and had to buy a 10 buck knob
clean. but i have also had bad experiences with the amazon warehouse which
is not the same as amazon. however they take anything and everything back
and probably send it back to festool so, there you go.

Thanks!  Unfortunately I live in a sales tax state for amazon and festool, so anything less that 30% festool is offering on the recon sale leads me toward a new item. And as you said, amazon's warehouse items should be approached with caution. Thankfully this is a wish list item not something I need ATM, so I'm happily checking for updated stock on the recon list. If I don't find one, that's okay too.

Anyone out there just get a refurbished HL850 ?

Mine arrived today.  I think it was 30% off - I cannot remember for sure and have not received an invoice yet. I expected the beat up box and debris but I did not anticipate scratches and gouges on the sole.  If I had seen pictures of the sole, I'd have passed.  Crestfallen.    [sad]

Refurbed discounted 30% HL850's just appeared on the tool list again.  Buyer beware.

Isn't it normal for such scratches to occur with use? Why are they so bad you get disappointed? Can they harm your workpiece?

Not meaning anything with this. If you don't like it, send it back, everybody decides for himself wat he wants. Just curious.

Have you contacted Festool? I know that the ReCon sale is an 'all sales final' kind of sale, but - speaking from observation only - Festool just doesn't seem to be an "all sales final" kind of company.

What I mean is, from everything I read and hear Festool CARES about their customer - you. If you're not happy, I would be SHOCKED if they didn't try to somehow make it right by you.

I *do* think that it's only fair that you let them know how you feel? Then give them a chance to deal with it. Post back here AFTER you contact them and let us know how they handled it.

P.S. - In case you don't know me, I am no Festool fanboi. I regularly and vociferously challenge Festool whenever I think they aren't doing what they should. I have even been accused of being (gasp!) outspoken!
[wink]
But all that said, I've never found a company that seems to care more about their customers. If they didn't care, i wouldn't bother to challenge them. What would be the point?

How's the blade? The rest of that stuff looks like it could be cleaned up fairly easily.

As with all of these types of concerns, I would contact Festool service or Shane to determine whether the condition is what could be expected. If it isn't, Festool will stand behind it. I have not bought a 30% off tool, so can't comment, but Festool has always gone the extra mile for me when I've had questions or problems.

Who grabbed the CT 22? :P

I saw it last night, price was only a little more than the Craigslist ad I found and came w/ the 1 year warranty, but by 8AM (eastern) this morning it was gone.

Also, they put a Kapex up @ 20% off, I know some of you were looking.

I saw the CT22 at 5am, but it was gone when I called my dealer at their 7am open.  I missed the same item earlier in the week too.

That's not a bad deal, the reconditioned one was listed at $250 though!

The one I was eyeing is gone as well. So back to square one for me.

I checked with a couple of the guys in the service department and they each independently agreed that the condition was within what we classify as a 30% tool. That department is responsible for classifying the tools' condition.

The condition of the sole plate should not affect the operation of the tool. Have you used it yet to see if it operates as expected?

Just reporting back on my recon purchases...

20% LS130/classic - overall looked more or less perfect on the body, just a few dust scuffs but much better than buying used.  The pads looked like they had seen a lot of use and were dusty/dirty on the foam (machine) side, but function just fine - the velcro is not worn.

30% RO150/classic - slightly scuffed up on the body of the sander with one ding 0.5cmx0.5cm that is beyond surface level, slightly dirty and worn around the switch area but cleanable - probably what I would expect buying one used.  Otherwise included all accessories and a new set of sanding discs, works great.

ets 125 30% and ras115 at 30%, both tools look like they would if i had bought them new and used them for one day.

Good to know. I ordered an ETS 125 @30% as well. Hoping to get it next week!
