This is a table made for an apartment foyer. The design sprung from the front board, where I happened to see a ripple effect like a pebble dropped into a pond. The double cantilevered table top was to imply a waterfall image. (Please excuse the poor photos.) The length and width dimensions were very limited to being required to fit into a very specific area.
It's predominantly made of 8/4 red oak with 4 coats of pure tung oil. No metal fasteners...all Domino XL joined using 12mm and 14mm dominos. The groove in the top and the bowl were all carved with Stanley Sweetheart chisels and a Wood is Good mallet. The bowl is for keys, wallet, change, etc. The table groove is to keep round things from rolling off. All ovals were cut with the P1cc Mafell jigsaw. Sanded to 800 grit with the Festool RS2e, RO90, ETS125, and the pocket stickfix. All cuts were made with the Kapex or a Gyokucho #372. The three legs were all from very bowed scrap that were jointed straight using the HL850 w/ benchtop accessory.
Tomorrow it is to be delivered. I hope that they will like it. They haven't seen any designs or photos. I hope that you like it, too. Thanks, Jim
