Here is another vid of the Planex in action, and for a fellow FOG member.
The ceiling had a span-tex splatter texture on it that had never been painted which sands off really nicely.
I sanded the ceiling in three steps first with the harness and the Planex set to perimeter dust extraction to take off the bulk of the texture then without the harness and the Planex set to suck from the middle to get the remaining texture off. With the perimeter extraction I get better dust collection and then when I switch to the middle the sander really sucks to the ceiling so it sands better and the perceived weight of the sander is much less making the harness unnecessary. Then I used my DTS 400 to do the edges that the Planex couldn't quite get and because often the texture at the edges of the ceiling gets a little wall paint on it so it needs a little more attention.
What really impressed me is that I used 220 grit on the Planex and 320 on the DTS and had no problem sanding it at all, I would have preferred 180 on both I think but didn't feel like going to get more paper just for this little job.
