Review of my new RO 90 DX FEQ

I am in a hurry to get o my G-son's football game, so have not read all of he replies.  I do not have the sander you refer to, but there are two things that I have found with my Festoy sanders.
1  slow the CT to (most of the time) lowest setting.  Interestingly, the sanding goes easier and it seems to collect just as much dust.
2  slow the sander down to lowest speed for observed best efficiency.  For large areas, i fiddle around with the speed settings until i find the best setting.  Sometimes, running too fast with either sander or CT/or both, the paper heats up.  I have not had any problem with either sander over heating.
My Festoy sanders:  Ro 150  DE 93  LS 150.

when i bought them, I was used to going thru paper like no tomorrow with my old Skill, PC and Milwaukee sanders.  I bought lots of paper so I would have enough.  I still have most of the paper left as the grits just do not seem to load up.  Very efficient.

Sorry i cannot relate to any of the sanders you have mentioned, but they are all in the same family.

I have the RO90DX and it works really well.

I second Tinker's advice on slowing the vac down a bit, sure helps. Not sure I have even broken in my RO90 yet but it works well and when sanding over my head the other day the light weight and easy handling was a godsend. Together with the RO150 it is a great combo. I still use the RTS400 for some stuff, but that's mostly because I have lots of papers/grits for it.

The extented delta pad is larger than the standard one and that's a pity if you ask me, I think I will clog up the velcro as I can't see myself buying three different papersizes for the RO90. The RO90 sure gets warm quick but I haven't subjected it to that much abuse yet so I am thinking I might give it some time before I do.

While the extended pad is larger, there is no additional abrasives size. It takes the same 93mm delta-shaped paper as the DX 93 or the non-extended pad that came with your RO 90. To be honest, I don't know the reason for the velcro being extended although I'm sure there's a good reason.

Sounds very familiar of when my RO 150 was new.  That went away once it was broke in.  Sounds great, can't wait to see these on our shores in March...

maybe the velcro is extended, so you can use the extended abrasives made for that flattening iron sander?

Shane:
There is a Delta sander, DTS300, in the line up which has that larger than D93 size papers. It explains it.

Is it true that the larger sanding pad from the RO125 will fit the RO90? Just wondering as this would make this little sander very attractive!

Thanks!
Andreas

I have never heard of or seen that delta sander DTS300 you talk about, nor any abrasives for it.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Andreas, sorry I missed the question. No, the pads and other accessories from the RO 125 will not fit the RO 90.

Shane,

Can I tweak your answer a little bit?

I use the sheepskin pad for the RO 150 on my 125. I find that the over-sized diameter helps soften the buffing action at the edges. Also, on my wax buffing microfiber pads which are intended for the 125 (made by Surbuf), the pads are 5 1/2" in diameter. This is a deliberate design for the reason just mentioned.

There may be too great a difference between the 90 and the 125 but I would have to try it first. Probably on March 1st!

Richard.

Richard, good point. However, unless I'm mistaken the polishing pad for the RO 90 is already undersized at 80mm which may help with what you're describing.
