Review of the new kapex stand

Guys that was a piece of thin mdf so it bends. Thicker stock would not bend and either way it held it up fine all day for all the cuts. And another extensions really could not be pulled out from that one and yea both sides have pull outs

throw a piece of trex on that bad boy and see how the extension handles it. trex, azek or wet P/T decking are very heavy and yet very bendable and flexible. i don't think that set up could handle something like that when slide all the way to one side.

I dont understand why every one gets worried about the stand not holding!  IT WILL WILL WILL WILL WILL WILL WILL  [eek] how many times does it need to be said?   Like Kreg said his timber was only bending so much cus its thin!  Thicker stock will NOT thats just common sense.  

People saying adding another extension its crazy!  If your going to do that DONT bother getting the UG stand just make your own. As doing this is just going to defeat the object of the stand.  Im gettin the idea people think this is a setup like you would have in a work shop. ITS NOT! Its for transport hence the wheels.  So if your going to want to add add add add to it I would get something else maybe make 2x  8ft benches to go either side which then 4 blokes can carry onto site for you, you might aswell atleast you know it will hold heavy timber  

I dont get it cus I have used many other stands and Dewalt being the most commen and the arms FULLY extended out dont give any more support for longer timbers than the UG stand AND atleast the UG extensions stay solid.  I have had heavy timber on Dewalt stands with arms fully extended and they bend down ALOT so I dont know if I am missing something or their are these super stands available which are just as portable and quick to set up as the Ug-stand but yet are able to extended twice the distance than the UG and hold ALOT more weight.

Also all these Crown stop man I never hear any UK memebers moaning about it but across the bond its a massive problem not having crown stops.  [unsure]

If your worried about wood bending why dont you just get one of these for those occasions where your need extra support.

because the board will dip down before it hits the roller stand and tip it over.

and the crown stops now there is a waste and something that simply is not needed either = )

well said jmb!  even on my sawhelper stand that same piece for trim would bend the same after it ran off the support.  THE kapex stand is solid.  I will buy a 16' deck board this weekend and will video it on the stand for you bloakes !! (lol as overseas says it!)

and as mentioned this is a portable stand to take from job to job and it makes it simple fast and easy to set up and start cutting.  it rolls on all sorts terreran except through a river, but it makes it easier.

I also have the dewalt stand and those wings bend like heck with boards are set up on them and those are deck or framing boards.

the extensions provide that llttle extra support beyond the normal 4' length and are stowed away very nicely in the wing and can be used when needed.  great idea.

with my saw helper im able to lean a stack of 2x's on the end of the left table and drag them up as i need them and cut, drag the next one and cut. i don't see that happening with those extension wings with the slide out extensions and no leg under it. i like the cart but i will keep my 8' saw helper extensions. i can still make it from the truck in one trip = ) 350 more for  beer and the topless bar

Well maybe I can attach my crown stops someplace else on the stand to hold my ashtray for when I'm cutting crown as it lays flat. : ). That is if I can find those $100 paper weights

And you could make and use a hand sanding block to do corners, face frames, strip paint, etc.  Instead, you bought a great product from Festool to do that for you.

Whatever,, but how did Festool miss this. You cut a lot more Crown on the job then you do in a shop. Come to think of it , I never (almost) cut C [huh]rown in the shop

No question it's a oversight, especially on $800 stand.  But it looks better than any other stand available today.

Took me all of about 30 seconds, and that included finding the offcut:

In all seriousness, I don't think the crown stops are popular anywhere outside the US, that's why they weren't included in the new extensions. But simply clamping a block to it like above works exactly the same. I really don't see why it's such a big deal.

I would give it a rest if the stand was 300 or 400 bucks but, for 800 it should help me be quicker, not cause me to make my own jigs.

The stops are my favorite part of the Kapex, every other saw I had to rig up something.

It really does not make sense.

That was about the stand, I like to have a work surface on my saw stand.

I was giving an example of some of the things I set on it.

One of those happened to be a smoke.  I would say I could set my beer on it but, I don't drink.

How dare we muddle up your thread.

i thought about where i was gonna set my beer as well. but then i realized i don't set it down until i toss the empty in the trash can, i buy the nips so its two sips and done = )
