Review of the new kapex stand

has anyone gotten the end caps for the extensions with their order? mine was delivered today and there were no end caps in sight. sweet little set up though. i\'m gonna use it with my mtf as well. i set my kapex up on the ug stand next to an mtf table then clamp the extension to the other side of the mtf. that gives me a work table right next to my saw and plenty of support to the right and left of the kapex,,, love that the extensions fit on the mtf as well. for a second when i saw those grey rubber feet i thought they might be 20 mm around and layed out on the 32mm system so if you wanted to plop it down on the mtf alone they would fit in the holes,,, no suck luck. not needed but would of been a sweet little extra.

Kreg, nice review but JMB jamp up on his extension !  How you gona top that  [poke]  ;)

Woodguy/JRB

You are forgetting that Kreg has a disadvantage here, JMB was obviously a graduate of the Royal School of Ballet!!

Poise and Grace, dear boy, Poise and Grace! ;D ;D

For those of you who had just about eradicated the earlier vision of JMB in tights and a tutu, I apologise!! [tongue] [tongue]

I just have this image of JMB in a cowboy hat with a paslode gunn hanging off each hip ready to shoot  [blink]  We better watch, he will be on in a minute to give us what for  [big grin]

Sorry Kreg, we seem to have gotten sidetracked.  One question, the stick on ruler, is it dead on ?  If you set the flip stop to 500mm will it be dead on 500mm when cut ?

Back on topic,
Think you need to calibrate the extension arms. JRB did a post about it.

Was he wearing chaps and waistcoat? [big grin]

The screw clamp that attaches the extension to the Kapex is secured underneath by 4 Allen bolts.

Attach the extension slightly loosen the Allen bolts, put your reference rule on the table and extensions and align the measurements then tighten the Allen bolts up.

Easy as!!

In the Ballet or Cowboy out fit.

Now lets stop it as we are hijacking this thread and will get told off for being kids [big grin]

The end caps haven't shipped to dealers yet. At least, not to me. When I get them, I'll ship them to my customers. I was told that they were coming soon but that was already a week ago.

If I'm understanding you correctly, the feet on the KAPEX do fit in the holes on an MFT.

thanks for the info.the feet would fit in the holes if they were laid out to fit the holes in the table. i just assumed they would when i saw them and they looked like they were about 20mm feet. but when i tried they were off and wouldn\\\'t drop down in the holes on the mtf. now i only have the regular mtf not the kapex mft so i can\'t speak for that one since that one has more holes in it correct? maybe it will drop in that one who knows

Mr. Cobbler:

The holes on an MFT are 96mm apart.

The feet on the KAPEX are 576mm apart across the width and 384mm front to back. That's 6 holes wide and 4 deep. It is indeed designed to rest in the holes on an MFT and the MFT/3 KAPEX is designed for it to sit on and the deck be level with the MFT/3 or MFT/3 Basic.

There are extra holes on the MFT/3 KAPEX but they are the same spacing. You can make it drop in on a regular MFT/3, MFT 800, or MFT 1080.

well someones measurements are off because they do not drop down, lol they do not line up at all. now just to be clear i am talking about the little rubber feet that are on the brackets that mount to the kapex. from what i can tell they are mounted on the saw correctly. but the little rubber feet dont come close to fitting any hole patter in the mtf. i\'ll check and see if i don\'t have the brackets on backwards or something, lol

I just checked my Kapex on the MFT/3, the rubber feet on the Kapex itself fit in the holes.  I believe you are referring to the bracket for the UG stand not fitting, is that correct.

Sorry that I was late to the thread.

Am I the only one who is wondering it the original statement was about some rubber feet - on the extensions - would fit into the holes on the Kapex, OR will the feet of the Kapex fit in the holes on a Kapex?  The Kapex feet do fit.  Don't have the extensions so I can't say if their rubber feet will fit.  Maybe someone else can check that out for the OP.
