Rewiring a UK CTL

Bit of an odd question but do any of the UK members know if there is a usual delay on CTL deliveries within in the UK?

I've swayed from my usual dealer as they didn't have the version of CTL I wanted and the 'new' dealer is telling me that there is further delay (ordered on the 9th) in getting the unit to me as they need to rewire it when it gets to the UK. I would have thought all CTL's have a common motor and as such common wiring. Now the unit is a GB 240V model, does this sound like a typical situation or is it an excuse?

The reason I ask is to determine if I carry on waiting (if it is a legit reason) or cut my loses and get another model.

Any advice appreciated  [smile]

Sounds very strange!!!!

Who is doing the rewiring? A call to festool uk should give you the answer

As an aside went to the D and M/Festool roadshow in twickenham today and there was more than enough stock to melt a credit card

Thanks for the replies both, I agree this sounds odd. Not heard of any previous requirements to rewire for the UK for other 240V products.

I have emailed Festool UK to see what they have to say.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting for a product, distributors have their issues like everyone else but if this pans out to be a fob-off excuse that's a different thing.

Its my own fault really for straying from my usual dealer. That said I don't expect to wait up to a month for a stocked item from a reputable source indirectly dealing with a company with the rep of Festool for £500+ item.

Could all be a misunderstanding.. if for example you had asked for additional outlet sockets, though these module take 2 minutes to install!

If its rewiring I am pretty sure something is dodgy

Smacks of some grey market activity at the very least.

Update

They do rewire... of sorts. its actually a plug change as it is a generic European model.

Got that from Festool direct and from N&B, both of whom I trust.

So no, no subterfuge just slack delivery details from this other supplier. I suspect that the price I have paid is a typo on the website which may explain the slow response to get it delivered. That said I'm going to let this run and see if they can resolve the situation - as I mentioned before, everyone gets issues, its how they deal with them.

In reality I should have just asked N&B and not assumed that because it wasn't on their website that they couldn't get it - sorry Charlie, lesson learnt.

both festools ive bought so far a midi and a ts55 i got from its.co.uk with both being delivered within a day or 2

I appreciate some Festool product is stock item, seems the CTL I ordered isn't.

To be fair, when I usually order from N&B, it's more often than not delivered the next morning.

Update on this saga.

On my third lapsed delivery date, fourth excuse and now waiting for Festool to assist in resolving.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a happy Festool customer but I'm a little dismayed that a supplier with Festool dealership status can run their customers around like this. If this had been my first foray into Festool ownership I would have walked to another vendor by now.

Twice i have ordered products online (not Festool) and kept getting excuses upon excuses, low stock, etc. Both companies were going in to liquidation i found out when it was to late.. I had to claim my money back through my credit card.
If any company now makes any excuses i will go straight to my credit card company to get a refund.....

John..

I must admit, this aspect did worry me a little, however no big alarm bells are going off right now - I do think it is just a case of poor customer care and communication.

I am however slightly concerned that Festool have not actually got back to me on this yet. I raised it last Wednesday afternoon through the UK myfestool contact form. I sent another request this morning.
I appreciate that Festool may not be able to push the dealer along but as the dealer seems to be laying most (if not all) the blame for the lack of customer service on Festool directly I expected a prompt response.

To reiterate, I'm still a happy Festool camper, but my confidence in official dealer status is ebbing away on a daily basis.

Fourth week, fourth lapsed delivery date and I've stopped counting excuses as they seem to merge into one another AND I still don't have a scoobies when my kit will arrive

[dead horse]

I'd love to share my usual warm and fluffy stories of Festool service but alas not this month [sad]

Rant over.... As you were, nothing to see here

I feel your pain shed9 I bought my stuff the start of last month only got my dominio assortment on Friday so I could not test it cause I had no dominos  [mad] the ones that are surpposed to in the df700 weren't in it and after opening cxs on Friday in the store  [eek] what do I see or not see cxs was there minus the spare battery and the angle chuck the store is saying everything has just come from festool cause the have no stock if that's the case what are festool up to I am getting very annoyed with them love the products but how come someone like Shane isn't on here form  uk

Oh and I rang tts nearly two weeks ago about getting shocks from my ts55 after arguing my they said they would send it out still no sign and still getting the shocks walking around site buzzing ha ha

Rant over [tongue]

Yup, I agree, we need a UK version of Shane or even a mod with direct communication with Festool. Same situation for me too, love the products but as stated earlier up there ^, if this was my first foray into the fabled Festool realm of service, I'd have walked and laughed it off.

I'm slightly disappointed that I'm in this situation and don't quite understand why I'm putting up with it  [unsure]
