Hi.
New on this side.
Is any one have an experience with Rigid sop vac. with the TS55?
$600 for a vac?

Prior to my CT36, I ran and still do from time to time use a Rigid vac with a Dust Right Vortex hooked up with my tracksaw as well as sanders and my domino. It will definitely get you by, but I really like the features of my ct36 - Starting with the "Auto on" feature, the adjustable suction level, and the addition of the hepa filter make it one of my favorite tools.  If you go with the Rigid you can get a great deal on a 35mm hose by bosch which mates up well with Festool products. (Albeit not anti-static, if that matters to you) Either way, the addition of any vac system is a must have IMO.

That's how I initially handled my TS75 before I got the CT26.  It worked just fine, though I used the smaller hose (the orange one that comes with the car detailing kit), which I had to rig up with some electrical tape as a connector.

I have had the same set up for site work for a long time. As for the auto on you can get plugs that do the same thing. The air volume can be controlled by bypass hose ends that Bosch has on the market and the HEPA filter, and Rigid makes one, I believe. B

Here's the Bosch VAV005 5 Meter 35MM Vacuum Hose

Here it is plugged into a smaller rigid vac (the new bigger vac have a different end, they have a cheesy "lock" on them so the hose doesn't pull out)

and the other end into the domino

and here is the iVac plug to make you vac turn on and off with any tool

You can then do this if you want to with blast gates to adj flow, dust deputy to help with dust, used with multiple tools and even add a high performance filter.

The hose is the key, it gets rid of trying to figure out this mess of adapters.

Shop vac on track saw works fine. The CT is nice for adjusting vac for festool sanders, though I do use a shop vac/dust deputy rig with Rigid sanders and it works great.

Before getting the CT-36, I used a Rigid vac with a filter bag, 5 meter Bosch hose and an Ivac outlet, with my TS55. It is a great combination. My Rigid vac has a more powerful motor than the AC and running them off separate circuits robs less power from the saw.

There is a very large difference in decibel level between the choices.  Ct very quiet and is a great rolling base for a stack of systainers too!  Less connectors, plugs and you get an antistatic hose.  After all the additions of plugs adaptors and the extra headaches from the very loud rigid....i guess you know my choice.  Also, you may not be interested in this feature, a ct is a full unit certified hepa dust extractor capable of being used in the sanding of lead paint and such things.  Expensive? Yep!  But its all more than a simple vac.

Not sure how a regular vac works with the TS, but after using the CT, i really don't  care to find out.  Just got a CT midi about a month ago.  Expensive?  Yes.  Worth every penny of the cost?  Yes.  The decibel level alone is worth the cost.  Those regular shop vacs are about the same as landing a 737 in your living room.  Enough noise to drive you bat chit crazy after about 10 minutes.  CT is virtually silent in comparison, and doesn't spit dust out the exhaust every time you turn it on.  Add to that the CT bags which make emptying the vac an easy, dustless project as opposed to turning the shop vac body upside down in a bag and getting the dust cloud in the face.

As I get older, my tool purchases are all about making my life easier, quieter, cleaner and generally a lot more pleasant.  The CT is a big part of that equation.  You also don't need a 26 for the TS, a midi or mini will work just fine (same suction rating as the bigger vacs).

yup, it's loud, but so are most of the tools you are using.  Ear protection is another issue.  You can get a hepa filter for your rigid if it matters to you.  If your shop vac is "spitting" dust there may be an issue with it...

The only time I have found the anti static to be a BIG benefit is with my routers.  With the domino and track saw not so much.  Not sure how an anti static hose works on shop vac??  Or if it even would without bonding the hose somehow?

I have used expensive vacs.  They are nice.  I have one on order!  But it's a big amount of $$$$

The vac end of the 27mm anti static hose fits into a shop vac without any modification, correct?
