Well new Grandchild, new project. She is only three months old and the message I got was I want one.
Well parts are getting done, soon to assemble, then finish.
Made from Cherry and Maple.

More to come

Actually it is a design of my own, that seems to work out as I go along. It has developed thru trial and error but has come together for sure so far
All parts are made by me, nothing purchased.
I made templates with 1/2" starboard for all the routing, boy I do like my CMS

Looks awesome Sal, destined to become a family heirloom and be passed down. Make sure to sign and date it.

How is the new shop working out?

Well all the pieces are now together, next step is the finish, waiting on a new can of OSMO hard oil, my old can dried up in the cabinet. It will be OSMO or Watco Danish Oil still not sure, want to stay natural with the woods used, Cherry and Maple

RMW.  It is a real tight work shop, I have too many toys

The rocking horse is beautiful Sal! Long after the grandkids have outgrown it I predict it will still be proudly on display in the living room.

PS - that's an inherent contradiction in terms, "too many" and "toys" I mean... Does not compute.  [poke]

Looking good Sal, the finish will make the whole thing pop.

How did you make the legs?

Vin.  The leg taper is actually done with a belt sander and hand plane. They are in realality the hardest part to make, I have been making this Rocking Horse for 10 years now and still haven't been able to come up a sleding  jig for using a router to make the leg taper. One day I will be forced to think about it hard and make one.

Thanks for the input.

Sal,

This is a beautiful project and one I am sure will be cherished for years and years.  Awesome job!

All done with finish, still have to make the bridle, found I had no brown leather left. I will post that pic when I get back from the  Festool Workshop this Wednesday
