How come Rockler is the only place I've seen that is discounting their demo tools? I go to Woodcraft and Woodwerks as well as some websites (including yours) and haven't seen any other company discounting the tools even though they have demo tools with old style systainers. I used to like the introductory discounts on the new tools. Made me want to have the newest tool even more than I do now. [wink]

Tom,
I'm not in the position to answer for any dealer other than myself, but my guess is that it's their best interest to sell their current demo tools and buy a whole new set of new tools - in the new systainers. Over the years, I've sold a bunch of my demo tools, but I don't have a need to sell any at this time - but may change my mind in a month or two or three. As a side note, remember, most of the demo tools sold by dealers are not coming with warranties.
Sometimes the word "sale" makes people:
a. buy before fully considering what it is you are really getting - sometimes a sale really isn't a sale if you add it all up.
b. makes some feel they were "had" because the "sale" was not in existence when they made their purchase.
Which is not to say that there isn't money to be saved, or good value to be had in some sales, but we all need to look at "sales" more closely before deciding one way or the other.

The comment Bob makes about most of the demo tools not comming with warranties bothers me. I purchased a demo Domino at Rockler this last weekeend, no mention was made regarding an exception to the warrranty, and the only thing noted on the receipt was a 20% store promotion. Do these tools not carry the standard Festool warranty? I would be hugely dissapointed in my local Rockler if that were the case, and would return the tool immediatly, as while significant, the sale wasn't "that" good.
