Router table is not compatible with OF2200

For those that don't use the OF2200 on their CMS how do you not mount it?

My cms surely didn't include the mounting ring for the of2200 and I surely don't use the heck out of it.

Yes , Its the out feed side for the CMS. They sell a side extension which comes in handy when using the CMS saw module.

I've got it all lined up at my fav retailer then:

The OF 2200 kit with CMS GE includes the Router and mounting module and the attachment for using a template to cut shapes with a bearing guided routerbit.
The sliding side table, the off feed table. The TS 75 mounting module. estimated buy time may or june 2015..

I assume that means that, in the US at least, no mounting instructions are included with the CMS GE for the OF2200? It doesn't look hard, but sometimes I'm challenged with these things. I'm still trying to decide about upgrading my router table. The CMS GE is certainly one of my top choices, but I do think that having a larger table would be better. Plus, I have another router that I could mount on a new table, but probably not on the CMS. Ther real question is what makes the CMS with either the OF1400 or OF 2200 superior to another high end table? Dust collection? Accuracy? The sliding table (which may not be possible on any other comparable table.)? Something I'm missing?

Welll since yer ordering those items, why not add the 1/4 collet for you 2200, its a good thing I dont use the 2200 in my CMS b/c if I did I would have to buy me the collet so I can use my 1/4 bits . That would save me the trouble of swapping out routers when using smaller bits . Plus since yer getting te Saw module the CS 50 fence and side extension help out a lot. Not really necessary but do help out

Please recognize that this is my personal opinion. But festool is a system, the festool router table is specifically designed to be used with festool routers. Other manuf router tables are generic and made to fit other routers.

Plus the CMS does have superior dust collection to other router tables Ive used. It is the same height as the MFT3 so the MFT can be used as a side extension and outfeed table(system approach).

Also The CMS is designed to use with the other components, the saw module and scrolling module  which I have, and a belt sanding module which I dont have. These are not available in NA but people seem to get them.

If you add in some of the items in the GE pkg ad that come standard, such as the sliding table, the outfeed table, and the router lift you be paying extra money for them and they would be generic and not designed for use with that particular router/table additionally the left would cost you roughly $300 depending on manuf. Most router tables dont come with the sliding table.

As a bennie the 2200 is the best router that size available on the market. As I said I used a huge raised panel bit with a back cutter and did single cuts ad raised the panel in single passes. and it didnt strain the motor and the motor didnt slow down at all.

As a free hand router I love the 2200. If is so superbly balanced it will sit there and run while sitting on a MFT upside down when accidentally started.

Dont ask mew how I know that.

Try that with the PC router 7518. It will chase you around the shop

Plus using it with a guide rail is another big plus.

It does help. Just the kind of response I was looking for. The experience of others is the only way to judge how useful a tool might be before buying it. I do feel the CMS/OF2200 would be a superior way to work. I'm just torn, since I own a couple of routers which I use for other things (and they work well for those things when I do them - I like having routers dedicated to tasks as it save some time and makes the result more accurate.) I could use one of those in a table like Woodpecker's, Kreg, or a number of others. I do already love the OF1400 although I've seen posts saying that having the 1010 and 2200 is a better choice than owning the 1400 and 2200. I'm planning for the near future and appreciate your information. Great dust collection certainly is a big plus for any router/router table combo. Accuracy is right up there also. Then, ease of setup too. So, anything that is superior with those three things would be a good tool to have. Sounds like that is true with the CMS/OF2200.

Im one of those guys who have a 1010 and 2200. I find its a great combo. I use the 1010 for about 95% of my free hand routing. including the LR 32 system and trimming edge banding. It really is a cool little router.

Guess I should have thought it through more first but the OF1400 seemed to be a good all-around mid-range router. Since I have other non-Festool routers, I didn't think it likely I would ever buy more, but then I started to second guess my existing router table that last time I used it. The dust collection has always been bad and I can't seem to get it right no matter what I do. It's pretty bad and I need something that improves that, but am not sure I want to spend the kind of money that a CMS would cost, especially if you factor in an OF2200 router also.
