Hello,

I just scored a pair of Festool safety glasses at new Festool dealer....
Thinking about the future: are there replacements glasses available? Please tell me so.

Thanks!

Andreas

Andreas,

I don't know the answer to that question right off hand.  I'll check and get back to you.

Andreas:

the Festool glasses are manufactured by Uvex and they still sell the same glasses just without the Festool logo and different colour. I am pretty sure the glasses are called Uvex i-vo.

I just got a nice pair of 3M ones they were free here in the UK. 3M were sending out free samples you could pick from about 40 designs some even had led's on them, I just went for simple metal framed ones very nice.

Eco,

I have a pair of the Festool glasses that I wear mainly as Sun glasses.  I need bi-focals in the shop these days for better or worse...LOL  I will warn you that the Festool frames will likely break long before you will need new lenses.  Both sides of mine have broken in the last couple of weeks.  The weak spot is about 1 inch in from the end of the earpiece where it goes over your ear.  If the  thin blue part breaks there is little support by the softer green material and the thing sort of flops around like a dead fish.  Having worked in the CAD design and analysis world for many years this is probably the point were the software would predict ultimate failure of the part...rather thin for the load it must flex and support over time.

All this being said, I have had and used the glasses virtually every day for probably well over a year; so they are a fair value in my mind none the less.  I will probably buy another pair if they are available as they are comfortable and Ilike the way the sun lens wraps in close to the eye all around.

The best safety glasses and even sun glasses on the market right now for the money are the ones that Woodcraft sells IMHO.  They are $6-7 a pair and even offer different bi-focal lenses.  The next best are the sun and safety glasses offered by Stihl at a Stihl dealer and those run about $10 a pair.

Best,
Todd

I wear Oakley's all day every day.

Keeps the sun out of my eyes and offers good protection.

Sure I go through a set of lenses every year but, my 3 pairs of oakley's are pimp. [big grin] [cool]

Replacement lenses would be nice.  Some klepto kid in the neighborhood took mine then went jumping off the other neighbor's garbage cans.  Before I knew it, he had jumped landing on them.  The gravel completely scratched the lenses.

They finally moved out the neighborhood.  Don't miss the kid.  Miss the mom a little, though.  [tongue]

is the official dealer UVEX has in Canada.. not  sure if they supply spare parts as well.. If they dont, i could arrange to make a bulk order and have it sent to you then.

kind regards, Mike

Andreas, if that other link doesn't work for you in Canada, let me know.  I plan on ordering some replacement lenses from CooperSafety (the first link Michael gave) possibly this week (but no big rush).

If you can't get them, let me know the part numbers and quantities off the CooperSafety site (http://www.coopersafety.com/product/uvex-xc-replacement-lenses-1258.aspx) and I'll add it to my order then we can figure out your address and all that.

A+,
Paul-Marcel
