Time for another job worthy of a WIP. This time a display cabinet for a Cambodian Temple that my cousin attends. Its to display and store their precious books. Decided to make it out of Saligna which I think is related to blue gum. Mainly because I have alot of it lying around and is a good solid heavy timber to use. It will be stained a dark walnut color to go with existing furniture.
Photo 1 shows the panels all sanded up and ready to be cut to size.
Photo 2 shows the legs with mortices cut with the domino to join onto the end panels. The legs are made from pink birch because I dont have any Saligna thick enough for the legs and once stained to match you would hardly notice.
Photo 3 shows them after they have been stained.
Photo 4 is a close up of the grain on the ends.
