I'm working on a large desk. I own both the smaller rotex, and the 150/3 sander. Given the impending price hike, would getting the ES2 sander be overkill? Since both it and the 150/3 are finish sanders, I don't know if the ES2 would be worth adding. I'm not a pro, but I want like tools that really do the job well, which makes me get into the shop more.
I otherwise, want to build some Arts and Crafts furniture, which has lots of flat surfaces...is the 150 enough for a finish sander?
thanks .

I assume you mean the RS2. If so, it might be a bit one dimensional for what you do. The 150/3 can do the majority of that work, unless you find yourself getting into a lot of flat tops or panel work. The RS2 does prefer prefer perfectly flat surfaces. It is a great tool but you might find more bang for buck in other areas, such as the ec tec sanders or maybe a DTS.

Having looked at the RS2 and seen other posts about this sander and discussed it in Lebanon, the consensus seems to be if you do lots of flat work its the go to sander. If you don't do lots of flat work, it will sit around a lot waiting for its day in the sun. I tried it once, like it as a sander but don't do enough of that work to justify buying one.

Agree with Scott and Holzhacker. Unless you have enough large flatwork to sand, you may not get enough usage out of the RS2 to justify the sander cost and associated papers. Don't underestimate the ETS 150/ sander; it will handle what you need quite well.
