I have the lathe and plaster home. Would like to buy a drywall sander, but not for just one house.

How well will the normal festool sanders work compared to thebfesttol drywall sanders?

They use the same dust collection from whatbI see.

I use my Pro5/ETS 125 for drywall and plaster work with Mirka Abranet abrasives and my Bosch VAC090AH or my Sys-CT.  Works great for my remodeling business

Festool sanders work great on plaster. I use the ETS125, DTS400, ETS150 and RO150 very often on plaster.

The ets125 is a great sander for plaster or drywall. Mine has who knows how many 1000+ hours. Combine that with a dts400 for the corners its a great combo.
It should be noted though there is a learning curve in using the ets125. If you expect perfect results from the start you will be very disappointed. It takes some practice to be able to use the sander without having swirl patterns. Takes some practice learning how to hold it properly for feathering. You'll also need to figure out your paper grit. If you are using say 100 now, you'll probably have to go to 120 or 150 using the sander.
good luck

I love my ETS EC 150 on drywall. The larger pad surface area and lower profile makes it much easier to stay flat on walls and ceilings versus the normal ETS 125s/any other 5" sander. The lack of a fan is also nice as the unit becomes better sealed/has one less item to fail with the abrasion of joint compound dust. I pair it with a DTS 400 which is nice for corners, but admittedly has a tendency to have too much suction even on the lowest dust extractor setting and gets a little jumpy.

I use an older ETS 150/5 for drywall all the time.  Works very well, but you have to be careful not to tip the sander because the pad will dig into the compound and leave a curved divot.

I prefer hand sanding because I can't always keep the sander straight, so I use the hand sanding block and the small diameter hose.  I don't remember the part number for these.  They work extremely well and I take them for granted.
