So, can’t afford a Kapex. And frankly, my Bosch 4410 has done everything I need it to do with aplomb. The only negative I can give it is the dust collection is not great. I always use it with a CT hooked up via 36mm hose. The hose is a nice snug fit.
It’s pretty good, if I’m cutting wide boards, and I plunge all the way, then push it forward (this is correct cutting technique anyways), as it throws the chips and dust *up* and into the throat of the saw’s collection port.
But I’m not always cutting wide boards. The Bosch doesn’t come with a shroud or anything, so the major problem is that dust can’t find its way up to the throat. I had an epiphany about retro-fitting the lovely Kapex shroud onto my saw.
The “apron” is listed on EKat as part # 471316 and lists for about $5.
I just sort of ‘hand-fit’ the apron and used a Sharpie to mark the location of the apron’s holes. I was aiming for maximum exposure, without getting hung up on the fence when the head was down.
I then drilled holes in the aluminum housing of my saw’s throat and then tapped those holes with M6 threads.
Finally, just put the bolts in with a washer, which holds the apron in place just fine. I think I used a split lock washer.
Dust collection has improved noticeably. The apron is made out of a very flexible material, but which keeps its molded shape. It will squish down onto a board for cutting, but doesn’t leave any marks as it drags across.
I am a happy (and less dusty) camper. [big grin]

Here you can see the bolts on the inside of the throat. I only had some 3/4” M6 bolts on hand. They don’t cause any problems right now, but I plan to replace them with 1/2” lengths.
