Screw Storage

Hello All, does anyone use a systainer to store screws and other fastners?

I did do a search and nothing really caught my eye. I was thinking of going with the 497694 but not sure.

I have 2 of the 497694 boxes. T-Loc. 1 for my pocket hole screws and another for all my GRK fasteners. No complaints thus far. Easy to stack and transport.

Work great!  I also use Sortainers for a lot of smalls, but usually for the shop, not for travel.

Here is another .......  This is the Racktainer with a Sys - I on top. The individual boxes are modular and removable.

Aaaaah, yes, the labeling. That is always the hard part to get  on with.  [smile] Not a big deal until you get a lot of sizes that are close in length.

For screws I use a bag from Duluth called a cincher bag.
I mostly build homes and decks so the bag works better for me. I do have the sustainer for my pec parts tho

I find the Sys-1 storage box works great if you want a large amount of the same screws. And the racktainer is great if you want a large assortment of different kinds of screws and fasteners.

  Yes, just a plain old black on clear P-Touch label. I rarely need a large quantity of any particular size for the work I do on site. There are larger size Raaco insert boxes available. Even some of the ones pictured will hold a surprising quantity. It would be no problem to get 100 screws of most sizes into an average sized Raaco insert box though. If I need a really large quantity on site it would be for a particular job and I would just bring along a big box of screws. I have an almost empty (purposefully) Sys - III as part of my site work kit, just for the use of job specific add ins such as stain, paint, hardware.

  The insert in the lower left corner that has the Blum spacers will easily hold 100  3" screws. Eight of that size insert will fit into a rack box (service case?). The modularity and variety of sizes makes it easy to sort  a large quantity of screws into a dense package.

I buy things like Kreg screws and deck screws by the 1000k min to save on pricing.  I would like to find an insert that splits the case in quarters, thirds and halves.

Yeah, I was just going to say the same thing. The new style plastic inserts that come with the Domino assortment.

You mean the Raaco boxes in the Racktainer mentioned above?

These are Raaco Assorter 55 boxes.
There are a few large inserts available, in the pictures below you can see the dimensions related to the box size:
- A7-1 (79x109 mm)
- A7-2 (79x218 mm) which is quarter box size.
- A6-1 (109x157 mm) which is quarter box size.
Don't know if they are sold separately in the USA or Canada.

I use the same as SittingElf. Having a Systainer screw case which I carry with my CXS is invaluable.

I think I remember paying £35 (?) for it a few months back; I know it's more expensive than the others mentioned, but again, I cannot fault the ease of having everything in systainers!

I have multiple Sys 1 screw set ups.

These are the are the Sys Storage boxes set up with cabinet hardware screws and parts and Kreg jig and screws.

Call me a heretic but the Stanley Fat Max deep organizers take some beating. They are very strong and contents don't spill from compartment to compartment when carried or inverted.
About 17 by 11 by 4, inches.
Clip together if necessary.

That's what I use...

        The Stanley's look pretty good. I have checked them out in the store. I use to use a Plano tackle box that held four Plano 3700 (I think) sorting cases, and had a hinge top compartment. It was great for my fastener and hardware box. The Plano would hold 12 square pint freezer containers in the top. Which I kept all my bulk screws in. The sorting cases got everything else. Ultimately , for me now, it comes down to wanting everything to fit into the Systainer stack system. And the Racktainer with a Sys - I or II on top is basically the same thing (with a lot more sorting versatility). I don't use the top unit for fasteners anymore as I just don't need the bulk quantity  for what I do now.
