Service turn around time

Sent a Planex LHS225 for service, festool received it 7/13/18. Just wondering how long before we would get it back. We are in Ca.

On average tools are in and out of our building within 2 business days. That's an average, so some tools will take a bit longer. If you don't hear anything in the next few days, please reach out to me, and I'll see if I can get an update for you.

A couple months ago, I sent in my TS-55 track saw. I sent it in on a Friday, Festool received it, emailed me an estimate, and did the work in one day, and I had it back in my hands the following Friday. I was very happy with the one-week (including shipping both ways) turnaround time.

I purchased a df 700 second hand every other festool product I bought however I want to send this in to get serviced the turn around time I’m hoping is quick

Since tomorrow is Friday, December 26th, I don't know if Festool USA will be open but you should ring them up and see what they can do. As TylerC wrote back in 2018, FTUSA tries to turn the tools around within 48 hours - because they know that professional users need them back ASAP. Of course, like he said: that's their average. Sometimes, depending on the issue and parts availability at that moment in time, they may not be able to turn it around that quickly.

As a corollary, I asked my dealer to order me a replacement side rail for an MFT/3. FTUSA came back to him and said to reach out after 12/26/25 as they did not have the part in-stock at that moment (about two weeks ago). But you will have to send the tool in for them to diagnose the issue and determine corrective action.

You don't have a shutdown of most industries over the Xmas period in the States?

Here in OZ most companies will close the Monday before Xmas and come back around the 5th or so of Jan. It's pretty impossible to get tools in for repair most places at this time.

The United States is all about capitalism, so I wouldn't be surprised to find FTUSA open tomorrow. People here like to believe that the long breaks you enjoy in OZ and in Europe are "socialism" - and that's a bad word here...

Don't worry, a lot here are starting to find out socialism isn't so great!

Bear in mind though we get 4 weeks paid leave a year as standard, 10 days a year for personal leave, and we also accrue long service leave at the rate of 1 week per 60 weeks worked, so factories and companies shutting down for a short period between Xmas and New Year so the majority can take leave at the same time, has been like this for as long as I can remember.

Although Festool USA might be open, that doesn't guarantee that staffing is at a super constructive level. Festool USA is an American company with German roots or a German company with American twists, and does have better than average vacation benefits which can accrue to a point and I also think there is a use it or lose it aspect also. It is common in companies with similar policies that the holiday / end of year will have much smaller employee attendance so if someone would call for example, they might have longer wait times on the phone. emails might take longer to be returned, etc.

Thank you for the swift response I am going to give them a week perhaps they are backed up with Christmas and new years even thank you once again and happy new years

It's hit or miss here in the states. With the exception of a few gas stations, most everything is closed on Christmas day, even the retailers that are normally open 24 hours a day. Of course, hospitals, police, fire, are functioning.
A lot of big industrial places, that run continually, use the time for maintenance. So, realistically they aren't doing the normal work, but a specific crew is working.
For some odd reason, it i fairly common to go to see a movie in a theater. Even in the days of streaming everything, it still holds. Apparently, a good way to get out of the house? Too much "family time"?
I have only ever done it once and I don't even remember what we saw. It was over 40 years ago so...
A few Chinese restaurants and Pizza places open in the evening, of the 25th, but that's about it.
Kinda works the opposite on New Years Day, the 1st is recovery day
