Setting My New Shop Up (Formerly Shop Build Progress)

This looks like what you were asking for.

The pre-separator lid would help too as long as you seal the joints. Shrink wrap.

I finished the drawers on the right side so I thought I’d start filling them up. So I took all my sandpaper out of their boxes when I moved  and tie wrapped them together easier to pack that way.
I started making small boxes but found it inefficient. So I made a organizer which enabled me to sort them all so far😎. Hope these photos can load cuz I’m useing my iPad as my puta is on the fritz

I noticed I havent really posted anything since 4 Jan so Ill give a up date. I had computer problems needed to replace the battery ordered it replaced it now Im good.

I found the spot I want to hang my clamps. I used a couple of old 2x4s to clamp them to. Nothing special but it gets them out of the way and where I want them. Once I get the shop set up and usable  (after I insulate it. Ill make a nice clamp rack.  Photos later on. I got ply leaning against them right now plus I moved stuff scattered on the floor out of the way But over all its starting to look like a shop.

Got a buddy coming over in a couple of weeks to help me finish wiring the shop so once the wirings in place I can start getting bids for insulating the shop.

Photos later on. I got ply leaning against them right now plus I moved stuff scattered on the floor out of the way But over all its starting to look like a shop.
Bought some cheap imported ply. Gonna use it for the top of the miter station. the wife and I got a Drs appts today so not sure if Ill be able to get it done today.

well I put a top on the cabinets for the miter station along with the fence.

Nothing is set permanently bc it all has to be removed  when I get the shop insulated.

Screwed some 2x4s to the studs to hang my clamps. I think thats where Ill keep them. Ill make a decent clamp rack once everything is set up premenantly .

Youll notice the back of the fence is raised a bit thats because theres a tape measure at the end of the fence (by design). FYI The Fence is the OG Kapex extensions.

Once I extend the fence out (it will extend out quite a bit both sides of the saw) the fence will be flat bc the tape will be off the top on both sides. One photo I took so you can see the tape

Looking good! I love the drawers/cabinet integration. Very practical use of space.

Well made another set of drawers, now that Im set up got the tools set up Im knocking them out. I was surprised how quickly I got all the pieces cut and milled. tomorrow glue up and hopefully install.

Heres the photo of my wall mounted DC. Im planning on lowering it a bit so the bag will fit better. It has a zipper on the bottom to empty it. I unzipped it let the dust go into the can.

That bag fills up very fast.

Remember its just for the jointer and planer. Im thinking about getting a piece of 4" hose, cutting a hole in the lid of the trash can and run the hose directly into the trash can.

What ya think of that idea?
I believe Jet came out with a new separator that fits onto their dust collector. It’s an improvement to the prior. I think it can be modified to a Harbor Freight 2 horsepower separator. I spoke to Jet/powermatic tech support in the summer and they said it was getting released. I’m sure it’s out by now. You could probably connect the separator midstream to your DC. You would need to go onto their site or call jet tech support. I think the price was around $30-$40?
It’s similar to the old one but better. There was an article in 2011 in Fine Woodworking “ Jet - Jet- Vortex Cone Dust Collector” that talked about the separator. There’s also a few companies that make pleated filters that greatly increase efficiency

Might work on yours but mine is a different DC as its wall hung and has no upper bag dust is just sucked in and goes straight to the collection bag

My wife is a woodturner and we got her the Rockler 1,250 wall mounted DC with the cartridge filter... https://www.rockler.com/rockler-wall-mount-dust-collector-1250-cfm

Pieces of bark made quite the bang and really the bag is pretty small, so we got this...https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-grizzly-growler-cyclone-separator/g0863

We got them on sales, so not quite the prices shown. Moving my 55 gallon separator with the rockler connectors mentioned above was a non-starter for her.

Nice set up. I looked at the Rockler wall munted DC. But because Im only using it for my 12" makita planer and my jet jointer,Which I dont use all that much.
I went with a cheap DC.
I use my FT CTs for everything else.

Thanks Oliver, its a slow process to BTW.

Back to making some more drawers I didnt see the need of posting photos as I already did for the last batch of drawers.

My next build will be a cabinet to act as a Kreg jig station. Ill build it a little shorter so the jig will match up with the height of the miter saw top and Ill store my Kreg jig accessories there in a sustainer that will sit behind the Kreg Jig. Photos will come after i finish and install the drawers.

In todays exciting episode
I finished the drawers installing tomorrow.

Finally the unicorn knowns as my back ordered insulated roll up door and was installed today still got to color match. No motor or gear chain needed its small enough I can easily raise and lower it. Maybe in the future Ill put a motor drive on it. Already wired for it

U been watching scott brown carpentry?
I loved his unboxing of the Mafell beam saw. That thing’s a beast -$10k for a circular saw!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hes fun and informative. I liked when he decided to get rid of his dealt miter saw and went to buy a Kapex

So in todays exciting episode,

Finished the last of the drawers for the miter station though it isnt done it is functional .

You can tell I need doors shelves etc theyre coming.

I have a decsion to make, I have a sheet of ply left and Im thinking whether to make shelves and doors out of it, or build a pocket hole station for my kreg jig.

Decisions ...Decisions.... Heres what the basic config of the miter station looks like.

Whatever I decide to do when I finish it,

I need a break from building cabinets.

Maybe Ill finish a side board/ bar I started before I had my ankle surgery and or run the wiring....
