shop use consideration of CT Boom Arm for Dust Extractors

Thanks. So to confirm, the top compartment can be removed to access the bag with the boom arm on?

Since I keep my CT33 in one location close my assembly table/MFT storage movement around the shop is not a problem.  I have 2 "low tech"  Ridgid vacs with cyclones for floor cleanup.  I did add a 35mm hose from the vac to the end of the boom, ending a more flexible 32mm hose to the tools.

Did you shorten your boom up? I researched the topics here a couple of months ago and I think Shane posted a picture of where to shorten it. My shop is in my basement and that instruction made my boom sooooo much more useable. I’m servicing my MFT as well as my router table.

No, it wasn't cut.  What's the purpose for cutting it?  To shorten the height? I wouldn't need that as the shop has 12' ceilings but I have thought about extended the boom at the end .

has anyone on this forum considered and decided to buy / or not buy the M0114 CT Boom Arm for use in a shop ?
The thinking behind the experience and the outcome / advice would really be appreciated.

One review I saw had the Boom Arm mounted separately from the CT which is an interesting approach.

I used to have a
festool Midi  dust collector but really wanted to install a boom arm in the worst way.  So I bought a CT-26 and when it got to point where I had to have the boom arm, I saw a FOGGER who used a Photographers light bar thngy that I immediately purchased the Monfrotto remote wall light hanging bar (for lack of a better word) and am now finalizing the mount design and the location.  My complaint about the CT 26 Boom arm was an obvious lack of stability to the CT-26.  I should have mine completed before the year is out, I have other projects I'm working on.

What does it look like?

That boom arm might just be my favorite Festool. I've got mine hacked into my workbench with a couple of homemade wooden gudgeons and a mod to the top CT handle clamp. Between the un-used handle, braces, and bags of bolts I've got a lot of spare parts I'm trying to keep together in case I ever want to use it out in the field.
