Hi
Looking for a short 36mm hose for Kapex to sys vac. I know a larger vacuum is recommended but I'm looking for a short/cut down hose that will fit from kapex to sys vac. Called Festool and got a part number but turns out that part number is for a long hose. Thanks in advance for any info on where to get/buy a short 36 mm hose.
Thanks
Brian

The old style hoses that were ribbed could be cut and new ends attached to make two hoses (or just one short hose, but at the cost of a hose that seems wasteful).  They were 36mm throughout.

Bob Marino sold short (like 18") 27mm hoses like that, with two ends which acted as a converter from the 36mm hose to your 27mm tools.

I expect that doesn't work on the new hoses with the smooth sides because they are tapered, but am not sure.

If you are in US, unfortunately the hoses are not sold by the meter like in Europe.

Your best bets are:
A) get the Cleaning set part #577258 with the 3.5m D36 hose.
- cut the hose (the ends can be taken apart, is pretty easy) to the length you need.
- keep the tubes and brush, sell on the Systainer
- from the rest of the hose, add 204920 and 500670 to make another shorter hose and either sell it on or keep as applicable

B) get the 5 meter 204925 long hose
- cut the hose (the ends can be taken apart, is pretty easy) to the length you need.
- from the rest of the hose, add 204920 and 500670 to make another complete hose and either sell it on or keep as applicable

I would avoid buying the 3.5 meter D36 hose standalone and cutting that one. The left over piece will be just too short - unless you had a specific use for it already. With the cleaning set this is at least compensated for by the other items adding value.

Can the Festool 36mm end (Festool 204920) be attached to a non-Festool hose, specifically a Cen-Tec?

Not sure what is Cen-Tec, but IMO any 36 mm hose will do. The old 36 mm non-antistatic hoses were anything like the new ones and the connectors worked fine.

The new hoses are just more fiddly to properly push in the braiding, but it does not go inside the thread. So does not really impact compatibility either way.
