It's just that this contest participation and content might be real important in determining the future viability of future contests.

International members were left out from the start.

I remember the last review contest, where international members were included, had numerous entries.

I remember even further down the road, when this forum was still under management of Matthew Schenker, there were contest almost every month. With sizeable participation.

Looks to me, contest are not currently a priority at all.

Frank,

Beautiful project.  Loved how you let that lumber acclimatize just waiting for this chance!  Your entry was number 5.

Don't be surprised to see us bumping this thread.  There are prizes for many entries and the odds are good.  Who wouldn't want the opportunity to get a reward or prize for doing what they love doing any way - working with wood and using their favorite Festool.  Entries don't need to be complex.

Before anyone reads something into our enthusiasm for this contest and thinks that there is something in it for the moderators or Shane - yes there is.  We want to help Festool give away tools to those who use them and are willing to share their experiences.  That's all.

So get busy - there are only a few days left - and put something together.  Don't count on the fact that Santa will be putting something Festoolish under the tree.  Take control of your destiny and give it a try.

Peter

Let me add a little to what has been said.

We enjoy sponsoring contests on the forum. I think Seth and Peter did a great job of coming up with an interesting concept that is in the spirit of what this forum is about: sharing knowledge.

Remember that some of the customers that we've partnered with over the years have come onto the radar through this forum and through contests like this one. Paul-Marcel, Dave Reinhold, Cliff the Wood Nerd, Kreg MacMahon, Rick Chistopherson, and several others.

So, seize the opportunity to give back to our online community and the strong chance of winning a great prize to use to treat yourself to some nice Festool swag before Christmas.

Thanks to everyone who's participated already and I look forward to all of the entries yet to come.  [thumbs up]

Again, thanks to Seth and Peter for creating the contest and administering it.

Just a reminder, the deadline for entering is near.  If you want to participate remember that entries must be posted as detailed in the first post of this thread BEFORE December 7, 2012.

Ok, guys...

Your odds are better than 50/50 right now. Let's get some more entries. Surely every one of our members have something they could contribute.

Tick tock. Tick tock.

I'm ok with those odds! [thumbs up]

It's funny when I received the Deltex, the instructions were in english and in french.

The french instructions were very well written, no grammar mistakes...

Festool sells products in France.  [wink]

However, Festool USA, who is conducting these contests, does not have someone to translate into French. Plus, there are other requirements in addition to rules being in French. I think sections of the applicable law were in the thread that I linked to if you'd like to review them.

I know it's a bummer. I wish we could offer contests to our members in Quebec, but it's just too complicated and cumbersome to adhere to the laws there.

I just want to clarify this as the rules state "Contest entries must be posted prior to December 7, 2012" which would suggest midnight 12/6/2012 is the deadline.  I could sure use the extra 24 hours to get mine finished.

You are correct - I was going from memory and I was wrong.  I have corrected the quoted post.  A demonstration does NOT have to include a finished product.
