I think that they are great quality too. You can get the 3/8 inch chuck for other size bits like Kreg and Forstner bits.
 
Are the non-carbide counter sinks really worth a damn? It seems like with melamine they barely work and then you've got to far...

Vix-bits would be nice. However because they're spring loaded it's just as easy to use a regular one in the end of your drill/bit-adapter. Then you just pull it out when done. There isn't really a need for it to be more secure on the drill.

Oh I use counter-sinks the same way typically. Sometimes I'm forced to put the drill in reverse however, or it stays in.
