I have had two of those monsters, a 12" and a 24" since the early 80's thanks to a Christmas present from my wife.  It's amazing how often they have solved clamping problems.  My girl bought me these and the Makita 3 1/4 hp plunger the second year we were married.  She got me a 12" Powermatic planer the first year.  Thirty-six years on I buy  my own tools, but she still sees the value in my various obsessions.
