Sortainer Latches.

Have you tried reversing the stacking order?  That is, Sorts on the top instead of the bottom?  I know it would make it top heavy, and would require some attention when rolling, but it seems it might be better when you try to pick up the whole stack.

I also thought about suggesting a Ruxxac cart two-wheeler to negotiate the stairs, instead of carrying.

Putting the Srots on the top sort (pun intended) of defeats the purpose. I want my Sort 4 to be on the bottom so I can open my drill Systainer easily. With the Sort on top I'd have to remove it first to open the drill Sys.

The solution for you, of course, is to get a Maxi and put two of the Sys1 fastener kits inside!  ;-)

Too wide.

Never used s sortainer eh?  I may as well keep them empty to keep the wait down and carry my fastners in a bag LOL. [big grin]  We sacrifice alot of space and weight savings with Sorts just for the ability to have access to the goods at the bottom of the pile.

Brice you said it;

I typically have my sys2 with my drill, 1X 4 drawer and 2X 12 drawer.  I don't have the roll board so I've never had Warners type of blow out but I have had them fall off twice while carrying.  Both times it was with a twist.

The little green tabs cant be twisted or they release.

That makes sense.  The reason it didn't occur to me is that with my current configuration (maxi for base), it doesn't matter what I want, I have to move three or four other things to get to it.  [crying] [embarassed]

Inner10 hit the nail on the head, any sort of twisting or picking them up any way other than straight up puts enough stress on the little green latches that they flip back and there goes the stack.

If the latches didn't want to rock back, I don't think they would come apart.

I guess this was more of a public service statement to be careful with the Sorts stacked up on any kind of flooring in a house other than carpet.

On the breakdown 2 wheeled cart thing, it is a good idea for moving them from truck/trailer to house but, I got away from things with big wheels for the fact that most houses I work on have really nice old wood staircases and the wheels on most things are hard on the steps.

Gotcha.  That was why I mentioned that one specifically.  You would have to limit it to indoor use only, but the wheels are very squishy.  As long as they weren't contaminated with grit, they wouldn't leave a mark on anything.

the wheels are very squishy

It's my understanding that the Festool CT wheels are hard for a reason, so that they don't tend to pick up debris. My experience has been quite good in that regard.

To a point they don't but, you will still grind some debris into the wheels.
I try to wipe them off if I have to wheel it in, usually I try to carry my CT to where I need it and then wipe the wheels off quickly.
May be me being a little retentive but, it beats scratching up some nice flooring.

I agree. I wipe my wheels if I'm going on new wood floors or even something like marble or travertine. I also wipe my feet.

The design is such that a quick wipe should be all you need. I'm usually going in with multiple Systainers and I like to stack them up on the CT.

Now I am Scared [scared]  I havent had what you describe to any of my kits that use a sort in them  If I did I would likely glue the dang latch to the bottom of the sys with ABS plumbing glue if i ever did.  I think i have worn a systainer out  though.  it is a sys1 that my drills sit in. the the latch groves in the box portion have worn enough that even new latches fall out  almost daily.  that box has been opened 10 times a day for the last 2.5 years.

Warner, I just want to confirm this is your situation.

You stack 2 sorts on a roll board then a few systainers, and you have a blow out when you try to roll the stack around or when you grab the handle of the top one and try to carry the stack?

For me its not the end of the world, I carry them only in small stacks or individually.  Once I get them stacked up inside I rarely move the stack around....quite often once I stack them up I don't latch most together so can unstack faster.

Not when I roll them around, only when I pick them up and not always.

I need to take a picture of it.  I think you said earlier about not picking them straight up and having issues.

Just be careful, that was my whole suggestion here.

I know you do some pricey tile work, so defiantly pay attention.

Mine always seem to come apart when I load them in the back of my Suburban as well.

That is kind of a pick up and tilt a little to get them in.

It happened twice in the past 2 months, one time my assistant was carrying a bunch up some concrete steps and the stack was swaying a bit, he twisted the stack and lifted them up to get them up on the next step and the bottom sort's latches let go and it went crashing down.

Other time I was carrying the stack in a similar situation and I hit it against a step as I lifted it up and it fell off.

I'll snap a shot too.

I'm worried by this.  I regularly trundle around 3 pairs of sortainers in stacks, manhandle them into my van, up stairs etc.  So far they have never come apart, but maybe I have just been lucky.  If I stack them three high though I can't lug them, but they do regularly fall over in my van and then the drawers are very hard to shake open ;)
As I am sure Festool are always on the look out for improvements, maybe they could re-think the catches - if its a wordwide problem.
I bought the extra large sortainer from Germany - not available here in France.  It is my main toolbox for everyday essentials (but of course its not big enough!)
