Sources for Hardware / Fasteners?

I hate searching for something as simple as screws, bolts, and other fasteners online.  Too often it is evident that those who program websites have little experience in how to search for fasteners.  Locally the stores in my area have a diminished variety and supply. 

I have now ordered a few times for Bolt Depot and appreciate their easy to navigate website and also the ability to buy in large or small quantities.  Let's face it sometimes you need more than 25 but less than 100 of something.  Also, if you navigate to their customer service page you will find over to the left some great printable charts in case you need something and aren't quite sure what to call it or what size you need.

I am not affiliated, nor compensated, just throwing this out as a possible source / resource.  I just printed out the large .pdf and will be laminating it for the shop.

I order mine from hafele. However, they have been having website issues lately but I got a email the other day that they are back online.  They have a good selection of different sizes and head types pozi, hex. I prefer the smaller diameter ones. In melamine there is less bulging but seem to hold just as well. I used to use confirmats a lot but after switching over to stop dado construction I have not been using them for the most part.

Bolt Depot is a good spot. I get a lot of stuff from them.

McMaster Carr is also a good source.

If you live near a farm supply store and just need hex heads most sell in bulk by weight.

I'm fortunate to be within a short distance of the trifecta of Big Box stores...Home Depot, Menards & Lowes. Each offer their unique mix of fasteners. For GRK screws it's HD...for Spax screws it's Menards and for stainless fasteners it's Lowes.

I'm also within walking distance of True Value Hardware a little local hole-in-the-wall store that has an impressive variety of fasteners especially in metric versions. They also sell GRK style screws the old fashioned way...by the pound using a small hand scoop. [big grin]

OMG Jeff...never thought about that. [smile]  The Fleet Farm store is about 3 miles from the HD location with a Northern Tool store stuffed between both of them.  [popcorn]  Gotta love Fleet Farm, about 6 years ago they were still selling rifles next to the Hershey bars.  [wink]

The one advantage of living in a big city, everything is available. We have all of the brands of big box stores, two different brands of farm stores, multiple woodworking stores and even a couple of specialty fastener stores. Yet, I still buy stuff from McFeelys and even Amazon occasionally.
