Special base need for festool router with guide stop?

I just recently bought my first festool router (OF 1400EQ) and tried to use it with the guide stop.  I attached them together but was having a problem in that the bars running through the guide stop (which was on my MFt/3 table guide rail) caused the router to sit about 1/8" too high.  I cut a couple pieces of wood to sit under the base so it would be parallel to the guide rail instead of sitting below it, but it was quite the ghetto experience.

So what am I missing - do I need to order some kind of base with my router?  The instructions were nonexistent and although I got some nice cuts and it was otherwise easy to use, I'm looking forward to getting rid of my taped on base extender.

There should have been a small black plastic foot in there with the guide stops.

Yes, you should have this part, the support foot.

Thanks guys, I did get that part, but there is no instruction on what it is so I didn't use it!  Can someone explain the use of it since it is clearly adjustable and also has a scale on it, neither of which would be necessary if just to raise the base of the router.

the scale is to use to line up the center line marks on the router itself.

Just set the height for whatever you need.

Many have not been that happy with the support foot and have looked for alternatives.  One solution is to add a 5mm thick sub-base to the router, as discussed in these threads:

Here's a basic explanation.  The foot is slid down the 5mm to work surface and acts as a support foot to prevent the router from tipping.  Checkout the pic.
