I guess I'm used to using the DF700 that has positive registration depth stops that indicate the distance from the centre of the bit to the bottom of the fence. Today, I'm using the DF500 and those same stops indicate the thickness of material the bit would be centred on! I find this aggravating and it has caused me to screw up twice today.
Festool: Please standardize this feature. I like the feature and use it a lot, but please pick one method of measuring and stick with it. I prefer the measurement used on the DF700.
Writing this post, I realized my solution. I'm going to remove the numbers of on the stops of the DF500 and write in their half-values (the distance from the centre of the bit to the fence, like the DF700.
Okay, back to work!
