It has been quite a while since i have posted here. A week or so ago, i got an E-mail from Brice wanting to know that i was still alive. last time i checked, my answer was positive and i replied to that assumption.
At Brice's suggestion, i am notifying all that I am, in deed, still exibiting some semblance of life in this old body; and eventually, i will find it possble to devote a more recognizable portion of my waking moments to the persuit of boring all at FOG with additional tales of woe and joy.
For the moment, I am totally immersed in the more practical observations of determining how to make others yards look better this week than they appeared last week. Grass is growing at phenominal rates and my mower gets upset if i do not keep adding gaoline to its digestive system. My Kabota tractor becomes lethargic if I do not constantly find ways to keep it warm and groweling. Trees need to be prettied up with my Felco and Echo pruning tools. As i sit here at my computer, i am looking out to view my Kousa Dogwood tree that will soon be in full blossom. (And I mean in FULL blossom this year) A beautiful tree that will hold its bloom for atleast a full month and a little more.
All of the above activities are somewhat habitual for me at this time of year. For the past two or three years, i have been trying to cut back on the more strenuous activities relating to my daytime love of nature and the realities of trying to be successful at keeping up-to-date with the care of my many and widely scattered yards and properties thruout the areas of Wilton and Ridgefield, here in Connecticut. With each new season, I find old clients have moved away. I tell my everloving and ever suffering LOML that this year, I will be able to cut back on the use of my Skag mowers and Echo chainsaws, echo trimmers, and especially ease some of the load from my often painful back, and devote more time to keeping company with my Festool toys.
An example of my success has ocurred this year in that in the recent autumn, I lost a small property when the customer moved to California. It was a small piece of ground, but i expected to possibly lose atleast two more to relocation realities. Surprise! Those folks are still here. the FOR SALE signs have been taken down and i am still reporting for action atleast once per week. In the interim, i have gained four more properties, the smallest of which is atleast four times as much work as the single property i had lost. I am very glad that i am only 39 and can fool myself into thinking i have a chance to keep up for another 39 (That'll be a third time around).
Oh well, i guess I will just hang around at 39 for a few more years. I will find time to report back to the FOG when summer heat manages to slow things down outside and the A/C begins to speed up inside. Oh yeah! I fought like h--- about getting that A/C in the house. You all know who wins the big arguements. You know, the arguements where domestic tranquility is involved. ??? Well, naturally, I lost that one. But, and i hate to admit, it is nice, when the temp is 102 outside and a nice cool 60 to 65 inside, to be reminded of my lost battle.
We have our GS for the nite and he is stirring. He wants action and my ever lovin' dog is telling me it is time for food. gotta get movin'. I'll be back. (I do manage to check a discussion or two now and then>>> but no time for comments)
