You can just pop the T off and then clearance in a drawer is just as good as the Classic Sys.

Not very practical as then you cannot take the systainer away /cannot grab the handle/ without putting back the catch .. but yeah, it is a kind of a workaround .. and I actually did this .. then grew tired of it and around the same time got almost an orgasm when there was a great deal on MAXI IIIs .. so got a bunch to replace about 10 of my T-Locs /repurposed, not thrown-out/ for most go-to stuff. Being 40 cm deep it helps with space utilisation too.

When I get to redo the small parts storage, will quite likely go with the Makita variety though. They ARE fugly, I just hate the color, but, the Classic SYS1 assortment boxes /still available here/ are really expensive these days, like twice the Makita cost.

/Context: my "small parts" storage capacity to renew/standardise is the equivalent of about 20 SYS orgs, so no small change./

yeah im using the ones I posted. In my shed it's just easier to pull out the ones I need for that day. I printed them in PETG and they are holding up great. I accidentally printed the v1 for a few but the v2 are better in my opinion.

Eric - are the files you linked the v2? I downloaded and have printed one set (planning on doing a lot more) in PETG. Is the cabinet spacing the same as the SYS-RAIL at 418mm? I don't read German well (presuming the PDF is in German) but it notes a 415mm?

Speaking of Systainers...

Has anyone built or used a Systainer cabinet that is double-stacked? Originally, I was thinking about a wheeled cabinet similar to a SYS PORT in style with Systainers in drawers on the front side and then storage Systainers (that wouldn't need to be accessed often) on the back side - you'd just spin it around to access the back. The cabinet would be 920mm high, 463mm wide and 600mm deep.

Today I was thinking that instead of accessing the back side, why not put in 24" drawer slides and have two systainers per shelf? Has anyone made something like this, or worked with this kind of setup? If so, how did you find it? Thanks!

I made a bench with 28'' slides, it works really well since I access the bench only from the front, due to space constraints. Make sure the slides are long enough so you can open both systainers while in place, 24'' may not be enough.

Thank you for the example. This is very helpful. Are your shelves (meaning the actual piece that the systainers are sitting on) 28"?

Like the way you put the extra space (MFT length vs. 2 Sys side by side) at the ends where it’s accessible.

I assume you are using makerworld so just make sure you click v2 the one i highlighted in the screen shot attatched. Internal dimenstions should be 412mm

'ABS Cleaner' works well for systainers - it's the cleaner that's used for cleaning ABS edgebanding, so it's not 'hot' enough to attack the plastic, but works very well as a cleaner. I also use it for getting dirty marks/hand prints off walls, after cabinet installations.

May I ask if you can give me a link on where to get this cleaner please?

@onocoffee im in a different shop set up now but my 2 deep drawer has worked (still does) good for me. It sits on a shelf attached to the MFT leg rails and is heavy enough to not need attachment, when needed I slide it out a little for tool or material support

Alex, one of our formally very active members got good results cleaning old ugly Systainers with “oxy” type cleaners.

I have had good results from using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Sponge that was wet. If left dry, it tends to 'sand' the texture of the Systainer slightly.

Looks great! How deep are the slides

They are 28”…and both systainers can be open at the same time...what I’d change? ….the inside of the openings is 14 1/2 high, and sometimes if I forget to rotate the latch locked, by sliding the drawer closed it knocks the latch off, so I’d make them another inch higher

Any supplier that sells melamine faced sheet products/edge banding should have it. I'm down in Australia and most of our sheet suppliers sell it, as well as cabinet hardware suppliers. Usually come in 4 litre or 20 litre drums.

Do a search on Amazon or Google and you can find some that come in smaller bottles. I found spray bottles as well as gallons.
