Sys3 rails in UK

Also "currently unavailble" and overpriced.

It's utter bullcrap the rails aren't available outside the USA.

Also not appreciated US website are blocking European visitors...

It's how you get replaced by China. The Chinese ask less for their clones including shipping than the Americans charge for shipping an ounce of air across the Ocean.

This is a good discussion and rant.

As a dealer in the USA, I too struggle to understand why Tanos/Festool/Bott don't make the rails easier and more accessible in all regions when this is a keep feature of the Systainer3.  I've sold rails in the US and I've shipped orders across the globe too.

I'm happy to quote shipping to your destination, get in touch.  And it may be that buying in a bulk with some friends help, I'v had a couple customers do that.

I'd also recommend writing to Festool and Tanos to express your opinion.  Let the customer be heard.

What is the weight of a SYS rail? 4 for 2 pounds? So one is 1/2 pound, let's say 250 grams? So 80 are 20 kg? Shippingcosts of 80 rails to NL on systainer.store results in shipping quote of $500... I can ship such a weight the other way for €130...

He said "get in touch".  What did you think that meant?

That's twice the US price.

Amazon listed 2 pounds (as in the weight unit) for 4.

I mailed the local Festool... and yup; Festool agreed to not sell them here... because it would get in the way of Bott..

I might take another look at the Hettich 'more than fully' extendable drawer slides. That will result in the least amount of lost space, I think.

Hi All,

It's seems the only benefit to the new Sys3's is the built in rack/rail. However, I cannot find these anywhere in the UK other than 3d printed copies for £20 each! $40 for a set of 4 is more palatable but shipping from the US puts this out.

Are they available across here?

Not looking to start another thread bashing the Sys3, just looking for some reasonably priced rails in the UK.
Of course I can cut a strip of plywood to size for free...

Thanks!

I got my first 4-pack from Amazon UK, but they quickly became unavailable. Got my next pack of 4 pairs from AliExpress at £65 inc VAT, free shipping. Then tried the ‘extending version’ from a 3rd party, printed. Just as solid, same thickness as the Festool rials (so same internal cabinet dimensions) at £15/ pair. Now there’s a seller on eBay selling 10 packs for £100, so £10/pair. Since Festool aren’t interested and Bott want £45/pair (they can eff right off), then I know who my cash is going to.

Hello, I am from Belgium and have the same problem buying rails.
Now I bought 2 sets from Etsy, to my surprise they are different in dimensions. especially the thickness of the side that is screwed in to the cabinet is different. One is 6mm thick and the other is 10mm thick. Does anyone know what is the thickness of the original one?

thanks

418 in between cabinet walls for M-sized Systainer. The Systainer is 396 wide, so 22mm for rails and the gap to facilitate movement. So max would be 10

Coen,

thx for the reply, you are right

I placed the two received prints in a cabinet.
The one of 10mm thick fits well, with still eren little play, the other is way too loose and rattles.

That 418 is also a rather random dimension. The equivalent for L-Boxxes requires 462 between walls. What happens to be the exact inner dimension of an Ikea Pax wardrobe  [cool].

Tanos now seems to be selling them directly in DE/AT/FR/NL but at like 2x the price of what is common in the USA for the Festool branded ones.
https://shop.systainer.com/nl/systainer3-rails-sys3-rail/83000863

It comes with a disclaimer;

Translated;
"Customer is aware the SYS-Rails are not approved for use in vehicles. By purchasing the product he agrees that they are not intended for use in the vehicle. Moreover the customer recognizes that the sale by TANOS is solely intended for private use and that every commercial re-sale is forbidden"

Yes, the language errors were also present in the original.

Good!

That disclaimer very much explains why the Bott rails are non-available separately.

Implies Bott has them approved for in-vehicle installs (in EU) only with an authorised technician doing the install. That makes sense as approvals for "professional install only" stuff are (way) easier to get. Guess that is the legal framework for most of their install hardware ... and Tanos did not think of these much, given they have SYS-AZ for the "static" market.

That price is better than the Bott version seling over here for €24 ..
Once this gets into etail, I would expect we get below €15 a set. Though, frankly, there is no reason for these to sell for more than the US prices and whereabouts, nor to not ship in the 4-sets bundle by default. A single rails set is of not much use. Just increases the costs.

The rails are needed for L size, even in only a static market; but the SYS-AZ is a much nicer (though more expensive) solution.  It is a shame the drawers are not available in L size.

It's crazy how 3 sister companies make it so hard for their customers to buy their products.

A couple of examples:

1. I recently bought a Systainer Rack with 6x Systainer S. The small Systainers don't come with the dividers ($2 per systainer cost difference). I figured I'll order them separate, but guess what? They don't sell the dividers separate in the US???

2. I have two company vans equipped with Bott Racks. They offer open top Bott Boxes in two sizes that you can put on the shelves. Both kinds can have dividers installed, but in the US they don't sell dividers for the wider Bott Box??
