Sysrock..Any early thoughts?

Jesus skids you really have some serious beef with the sysrock don't you! Personally I think the sound quality is really good but not when pushed too hard, it's only a tiny speaker so I did expect it to struggle when a little louder because it won't be able to produce enough bass to keep up. Banging on about your jbl is pointless mate, it hasn't got dab or fm, can't run on powertool batteries and looks much bulkier than the sysrock. Also it won't stand up to the knock and falls that a site radio will. I'm kind of struggling to see your point really

I have a UE Boom 2 - great sound, shock and water proof, broad sound dispersion, 14 hour battery life.  Pair two for stereo if you like.  Speakerphone too.  No built in radio but Tune-in, Podcasts, and Pandora give me plenty of options.

You can find them for as little as 119.00 on eBay.  Here's one on Amazon for 149.00.  Nearly 1400 reviews.

Yeah those are nice, 360 sound. JBL doesn't have that, neither does sys rock. The other thing about the sys rock and the radio topic is it's only FM. With Tune in you get it all, including AM, which is most of where the sports stuff I listen to is located.

I have no beefs, I have the sys rock here, I've pointed out what I thought were the positives. Did you miss that part? Sounds like you need to go back an reread more than just what you want to take from it if you're struggling to see my point and think I am bashing it.

Just being real here, it's a decent radio overall, with sub par sound (to be expected from some small speakers but not all) with good battery life and compatibility. But to restate my point, there are other better sounding options that give you more flexibility and similar battery life. JBL is IPX7, which means it can be submerged get wet etc. Thats about all I am worried about, since dust isn't much of an issue since I am running Festool. And it can take being dropped.

If you are happy with it thats good enjoy it, it's a sufficient (albeit expensive) job site radio. In my opinion there are better options is all.

My family is regretting the day I purchased the Festool Sysrock.  It seems while I am downstairs in the basement shop, the music is thundering upstairs and interfering with their activities (TV or PS4).  I kept getting requests to turn it down.....

The first day I had it, I could not quite figure out how to get my playlist up using Bluetooth (seems I was on an older iTunes version, I guess, I still don't understand what the issue was), so my Son's 16 yr old girlfriend had to fix everything up for me (she is very tech savvy).  I guess they were sick of me playing the same song over and over, while I tested it out.

I keep it on a shelf, right next to my battery charger, and series of outlets,  so a power source is never far away.

So far no complaints (as long as I don't turn it up too high)!!

Im 50/50 on the sysrock. I like the size its Small, convenient roughly 1kg weight but with average sound,no dab or USB port which is a shame for 320 in new zealand which is expensive compared to normal Bluetooth speakers. I'm looking at the new hilti radio also which has dab USB port, 4 times the sound quality is really robust but 6kg in weight & also charges batteries. More expensive at 500 but offers more as normal hilti chargers are over 200 anyway! Makita radio 280 which is also on par with the sysrock, so i feel for 200 its a good buy but 320 is extortionate

I have been using my sysrock and it's a great radio.  I also purchased a 3.1ah battery for the radio.  It's been on for 3 work days and still has battery life.

For basically $100 bucks, I am happy with the purchase. It's tiny, which is awesome for carrying around in the truck when not in use. Gets loud, but has very little bass. But, for its small size, I wasn't expecting it to rattle the house. I too bought a small battery just for it and I haven't had to charge it yet.

When the newer version arrives in the US with phone charging capabilities, I will definitely buy that one for sure.

The UK members of this forum are really really really really into DAB.

Got a BR 10 DAB+ version.
Tiny little radio, sound is small but enough.
Always trouble rotating picture.

Can we have Festool run one of these over with a truck and then I will buy one.

I dont think any of their tools would survive that...

Got my sysrock dab last week and I'm well impressed with it, much better than my old makita. I think the sound quality is great at the lower levels, yeah the bass is lacking the higher the volume is but it's bloody tiny so that really isn't a shock. It's certainly not made for a building site tho but it's perfect for me working in people's houses with rarely any other trades about

Agreed, and this is a real product with no margin, they can sell paper thin plastic inserts for 13 dollars for the mini systainer all day and wanted to get in the 5 percent gross tech game?  Boggles the mind.

So, I assume yours is already on order? [poke]

Running over it 80 times with an F150 is certainly less taxing than dropping it 10 feet on a concrete slab 80 times. [big grin]
