Sysrock..Any early thoughts?

Got mine about a month ago. Sound is good, Bluetooth connection works well with my iPhone.

The only thing I found difficult was trying to grip the power plug to pull it out of the unit. I put the back plate in my mill, and cut out the hole to a "U" shape, so the back plate can be slid off partially while the power plug is still in place, making the plug much easier to grip.

Can we have Festool run one of these over with a truck and then I will buy one.

So, I assume yours is already on order? [poke]

Running over it 80 times with an F150 is certainly less taxing than dropping it 10 feet on a concrete slab 80 times. [big grin]

I don't know, the back end of a Ford F-150 is pretty light.  I would have been more impressed if they had used the front end.

I have tried most site radios.

1.makita is junk, the sound is terrible and the bass annoys everyone.
2.At the time of thinking about festool radio,It had no DAB here in the UK. so really stupid !
3.Bought the little Dewalt DAB. It is amazing. Ok, bigger than the festool. But  not a huge difference to worry . Sound perfect

I have had one for a few weeks. I let it run all the time at low volume on NPR classic. I find it pleasant and relaxing which is my goal.

If I go upstairs to the kitchen I kick the volume up 2 notches so I can listen there.

I don't claim to be an expert. It just does the job.

I have the SYSRock, i love it and have no problems with it.

Radio reception at my house is horrible, so just stream it with an app and use bluetooth to the SysRock

no complaints. Looking to buy a battery for it at some point

Just in case you didn't realise.... You'll need a charger for that battery too. The Sys-rock can't charge batteries.

I have at the radio for a bit now.  My thoughts:
I like the looks and battery powered option.  I like the included case.  The sound is OK but I prefer a little more bass.

I do not like the radio reception!  I DO NOT like the fact that it does not have a USB port anywhere to charge my phone while listening to it in the shop.

Conclusion:  Moved it into my computer room and plugged it in.  Sound is OK for this indoor environment.  Moved my FUGOO XL back to the shop to ROCK & ROLL and CHARGE my phone at the same time.  Worth the $$$? Sure!

Trevin
ps.  The FUGOO XL is a GREAT speaker btw...  Check it out!

The plastic body of the sysrock has severely discolored from sun exposure.

that sounds about right, i left my dewalt tstak containers out in the sun and its discolored like anything else thats affected by uv.

If I could, I would return ours.

Seeing it in the corner, off, I asked one of my guys why he wasn't using the Sysrock. "it's been busted since about 2 weeks after we got it".

Okay, it's still under warranty.  But the thing that gets me the most is it needs a power supply!  it's basically a $10.00 transistor in a Syslite case with no power. Come-on Festool!  For $120 you could have included an internal battery...

My 2 cents, Had mine for 11 months now, deliberately chose the cheaper no-DAB version because I don't care for it (even though I recently received a DAB version as a gift)
It's my workshop radio as it has better reception and better sound than the Bosch site radio I was using up to then. It sits on the window sill in full sunlight and runs 8-12 hours a day 6 days a week. No problems, reception is quite good as I'm in a valley and most radios struggle here. No discolouration from being in the sun all the time, and I may be a hi-fi noob but I find the sound quality amazing for something this size. I'm using ear defenders with built in radio 80% of the time, so I put my shop radio at normal volume where you can still talk or make a call. I don't want it to scream above my tools, that would be bad regardless.
I find it great that I can occasionally take it to work outside with a battery, I even used it to play background music during the few BBQ's we held this summer outside the shop.

All in all I'm very pleased, I knew what it was and what it could and could not do.

I think he means a 'run' battery, not a battery for memory.

I have one. I like it. However I think my expectations from it may be more realistic/ lower than others. One thing that I think they missed is USB. It's 2017 for crying out loud! if you are going to put a power adapter to it, how about a usb charging port? Seeing that I can buy a USB adapter at a convenience store for $4.99 all day long it couldn't cost more than $0.30 to have added a charging socket to the power cord. Alternately, why doesn't the thing just operate with a USB cord? It's a standard item and can be found just about anywhere.

Ah, I had it confused with the Syslite II, which does have an internal "run" battery.

[member=10829]Timtool[/member], DAB....no DAB?
I bought the standard sysrock last year when the DAB+ version was already available here. It was less expensive and the station I listen to doesn't emit in DAB any way.
Now I have both but still keep the "old" one as shop radio, the DAB+ one has become the kitchen radio. But it's a shame though that my station doesn't emit in DAB, the sound quality is amazing.

I have no real use for the USB socket in the shop, it's more practical to plug my phone charger in a wall socket than in the USB socket which is covered by a rubber plug. I like that the possibility is there, but it's only practical when you lack wall sockets.

ive got the dab version and use it must days . the sound quality is great for what it is. loud and clear and the reception is good in most places .i charge my phone during the day with the usb which is handy especially if im using me phone to stream music to the sys-rock

Really?  When the warranty repaired/replaced unit returns, I'll need to check that.  Not once when I played with it early on, did it not require an external battery or the included power supply.

When paired with Ipad for watching youtube videos greatly improves the sound over Ipad speaker. Battery life is very good. For the cost I don't feel it was a bad purchase.
