Systainer - Alternate Handle

I keep my systainers in my shop on a deep shelving unit that enables me to stack them with one set of units behind and one in front.  I can stack them with one Sys 4 or a Sys 3 and 1, etc.  It is sometimes difficult to extract them from the back row.

It seems to me that if the systainers were equipped with a handle like an attache case they would be easier to take off a shelf or even slide out from the Sysport. I think they would also be easier to hand carry because your arms could hang straight down at your side instead of extending them out so the systainer does not bang into your outer thigh.

The only design complication might be clearance for the handle.

Sounds interesting Neil.  I suggest that you build a prototype, try it out, and report back to us (with pictures).

No, lids are not compatible. One maxi systainer lid equals two regular systainer lids.

... Of course, that'd leave you with a leftover hybrid box which has zero handles!   [scared]

Wood-Junkie,

Yes, thank you.  That is the idea.  I did not look at those systainers closely enough to notice that.  There goes my Grandkids' inheritance.    [sad]

As I see it, the handles I have in mind would proably work best on the smaller systainers, say 1 through 3.  I think you would have a balance problem with the larger systainers.  Also since the larger ones are as tall or taller than they are deep and wide, you would accomplish nothing in ease of carrying.

Bob X3,

Thanks for the link. I think that is the longest link I have ever seen.  I will have to check their US website.  I just don't want to have to replace all my existing systainers.  Besides I don't know what I would do with the old ones.
