Systainer Compatability

Are all systainers compatible with one another?

I'm just starting out with festool, and I want to make sure if I buy used&new tools that the systainers will still stack and connect.

Welcome to the forum.

Classic (old style with four latches) Systainers must go underneath T-LOC (new with single knob in the center front) Systainers.

Otherwise, they are fully compatible.

For the other storage products

The mini can fit inside the the Sys-1 (2) or Sys-3 (3), Systainers can be locked onto the top of the midi. No connection to the Maxi.

The SysTool boxes and SysStorage fit on top of T-Locks or classic Systainers.

Sortainers connect to the bottom of T-Lock Systainers and above or below the calssid Systainer.

Actually the standard style or regular T-Locs will attach to the top of a maxi, two of them side by side. [wink]

2 classic or TLoc Systainers will lock on top of a Maxi.  I have a couple Maxi-dollies I built (simple plywood slab with wheels and cutouts for the "feet" of the Maxi) that I use to wheel double stacks of Sys's around.  Just flip up the fins in the middle of the lid, slide a Sys (or a small stack of locked-together Sys's) in with the T-locks facing the middle, then flip the corner latches up like a normal classic Sys.

I mention it because there are a lot of nice pictures and some good information to read as well. I understand that it can get a bit overwhelming - and it's difficult to determine scale - so let me try to add to what others have posted.

Classic systainers are the older style, and are available in 'regular' sizes of SYS1 - Sys5, and 'mini-systainers' that will fit inside (but not attach to) the SYS1-5. They are compatible with the newer T-LOC's with some caveats. You'll probably want to buy all T-LOC's since you're just starting out and have no classics to worry about.

T-LOC systainers are a newer style, and are available in 'regular' sizes of SYS1 - Sys5, and 'mini-systainers' that will fit inside (but not attach to) the SYS1-5.

(Just to make things MORE confusing, the quantity of mini-systainers that can fit in the SYS1-SYS5 *MAY BE* different for the new T-LOC style than it was for the old-style systainers. I'll let other address that because I can't speak from personal experience.)

Midi and Maxi Systainers are kinda special cases. The Maxi should be obvious as the largest size. The Midi should NOW be obvious as a size that is larger than the SYS1-SYS5, but smaller than the Maxi.

Finally, there are T-LOC Midi's that link up to the T-LOC Sys1-5. There is no T-LOC Maxi.

Thanks. I'd actually checked out festoolusa a lot - but foolishly I didn't think to look for a specific page on systainers. Thought they just came as a container for the tool. I have all I need from that website now - it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for input/guidance.

. Well done!  And just to add confusion on the Maxi, I have an older one that is not as tall as the ones we use now  [blink]
We call it my MiniMax.  Same external dimensions except height. Locks into the current Maxi's just fine since everything is located per usual.  Old stock from my dealer, I store my Shinex in it along with polishing pads.
