Systainer labels

You bring up a good point, Peter, that I hadn't considered.

I'm a lucky guinea pig for the new labels, but if I hadn't made the cut, I would absolutely consider someone else's idea of removing the existing sticker, affixing it to nice paper, then photocopying it to a durable sticks-to-Teflon sticker (then invariably I'd stick it on crooked)

Just so that there isn't a misunderstanding, I personally am trying an experiment with different labels and different forum members.  This experiment is not to be confused as being associated, condoned, endorsed, suggested, etc. by Festool, Festool USA, this forum, or my role as a Moderator here.  It is just a crazy idea of mine.

Mah mama used to say, crazy is as crazy does.  [big grin]

I saw your protype labels a few posts ago.  Very nice!  I agree with your approach:  Bigger picture, less clutter.  Oink!

The idea of the better stickers is a great idea, but when it comes down to knowing what is in the box I'm thinking the Faster, Quicker and easier way to do it is the Sharpie method.

I have a lot of Systainers and most don't contain Festools, one even has my coffee maker, coffee and mug in it. I don't leave the site till quittin' time if I can help it even to coffee breaks.

Well, you could stay after quitting time!  MySystainer.com sells a Systainer for spray cans.  I'm imagining that the foam is pretty insulative and that beer bottles would fit conveniently.  Hmm, the foam and plastic are waterproof so you could likely top it with ice.

Just saying...

If you go to any office supply store, you can pick up self-sticking labels as large as full 8 X 10 sheets. They come in two flavors, removable and permanent. Avery is one manufacturer of them, which is what I use with CutList for labeling pieces after machining.

Make 'em as fancy as you want, couldn't cost more than a dollar. They print out fine on a laser or inkjet printer. If you use quarter sheet labels, you'll want to print up four labels at the same time since passing them through a laser printer more than once is not recommended. Do a test print on plain paper and make sure you got a good fit before printing on the more expensive labels. It's easy. Use gigantic fonts so you can see them across the room. If you want to add images and green color bars, you can do that, too. I print out my business cards the same way, in color on super heavyweight photo paper, with my picture and logo and everything on them. Cut them out with a paper cutter. I get 8 out of one sheet of paper.

The ONLY thing about the SysBeerTainer is if a Customer sees you making use of such a wonderful storage device they might just question one's integrity on how often during the day that system's been used  [wink]

Notice to the Experimental Piggies:

I have for the most part - I think - put together sample labels for you.  I was going to send you pdf files for you to see, but because of the high resolution...

Fear not - you will be getting PM's with a web address to go to get your links.

This has been a fun little project.

DISCLAIMER:  This project is not sanctioned nor approved by anybody else other than me.  Festool and the FOG are not involved nor are they endorsing this experiment.  End users will use or not use the labels at their own risk.  Only my money has been spent on this experiment.

Peter

You are welcome.

I should have added that there are three little "piggies" whose labels have not been done yet.  Not a complaint on my part at all - this is more fun to me than going to a movie.

Peter

James,  check back in an hour and I'll post a low resolution of yours as an example.  Gotta eat dinner now.

James,

I am thinking about starting a new business.  Are you an investor?  [eek] [eek]  My punch line "You too can make big bucks at home making systainer labels"

NOT.

Thanks for your endorsement

Wow, they look great, Peter!

P.S., if someone's labels aren't personalized in any way, could they be made available to the rest of us?  Some of the labels you showed here would be relevant to me, too :)  Except my aerosol systainer is really a BrewTainer, dark beer by preference.

Slightly off-topic...

Regarding SysBeertainer, of course Tanos makes one (several in fact). I mean, we are talking about Germans here, ok? They had the first official "FDA" regulation in the world (the Reinheitsgebot) and it was for beer. This is a country that takes its beers, lagers and pilseners very serious!

(also available as sys-3 and sys-4 for folks with less thirst)

Most likely NAINA because American beer does not warrant the expense  [tongue] Nevertheless, maybe Peter can design some fitting labels  [big grin]

Well, actually in Germany, at a job site, there is no such thing as cold beer. German trades people are used to WARM beer! I'm not kidding [eek] Even at some house parties it's quite likely that you will get warm liquid bread. Reason for that: Fridges have only the size of north american bar fridges! So, before they put beer in it, they fill it with food  [big grin]

With regards to the mention about the catches,  My last purchase (PS 300 eq jigsaw) did have a picture of that jigsaw on the front 2 latches & looks great.  Still no way of telling from the side if the sticker comes off but the front looks good.  Hopefully all new systainers will come with this in the future.
If anyone wants a pic of this, just let me know.

Woodguy.

Oky doky on the pic.  Its 10.43 pm here just now & snow going sideways outside so will go into the workshop tomorrow & take a pic, then post.
