Hey all. I just picked up the T18 and boy this thing has some  power. I've been using the C18 for about a year and decided I needed something with a bit more power. I've only had it for a day but I'm impressed! Might not use the C18 much now!

Hmmmm,  have you tried swapping the batteries between the new and old? The C18 and T18 should be the same.

If both are brushless:

also:
install half inch forstner
Set both to drill mode
Set both on gear #2
Make cut.
If not the same, then the  C18 is likely defective

Actually, according to the festool.de website, they are not:

C18
Bohrdurchmesser Holz/Stahl 40/13 mm
Drehmomenteinstellung 1./2. Gang 0.8 - 8/0.5 - 6 Nm
Max. Drehmoment Holz/Stahl 27/45 Nm

T18
Bohrdurchmesser Holz/Stahl 45/13 mm
Drehmomenteinstellung 1./2. Gang 0.8 - 8/0.5 - 6 Nm
Max. Drehmoment Holz/Stahl 35/50 Nm

While the two have different motors, I have never seen Festool advertise the T18 as being more powerful than the C18, and frankly, I would be surprised if the small difference reflected in the specs, actually translated into a noticeable improvement in torque.  I have the C18, but only purchased it because I prefer the C style form factor.  I would suspect the different motors between the two was needed due to the different design factors.

If the difference is that noticeable, I would also suspect a defect in either the C18 drill, or the new vs. old battery (my money would be on the battery).  As already suggested, I would start swapping fully charged batteries to help eliminate variables.

Having said that, we all may have just learned something new.

They are.  I have two Protool PDC 18-4 and the same batteries can be used on both the orange and green tools.

No, I meant to rule out the batteries being the difference in performance of the two drills.

Dealers websites still list the same value for the T18 as for the C18.

Perhaps Festool quietly updated the motor in the T18, the same way they did with the CTL Mini and Midi four / five years ago?
