T18 Power Question

I used my T18 today on an Ipe bench repair. I predrilled the holes for #12 1 1/2" screws. I left an estimated  1/4" undrilled. I had the T18 on the "1" setting and the selector pushed to the screw image. The dial on the back of the T18 was set on 25. The battery just came off the charger.

When the screw hit the undrilled wood, the drill just stopped. There wasn't and clicking like most clutch drills sound like when they let go.

I've used the T18 before and I remember it having almost unlimited power.

Help!

Flip to the drill setting. Using the screw setting enables the clutch. Using the drill setting overrides the clutch, so it doesn't engage.

Thanks. What does the dial on the back control? I thought it was the clutch setting. Since I inadvertently disabled the clutch by selecting "screw", moving the dial had no effect.

Yup, the dial on the back is your clutch setting. But being in drill mode overrides is so you get full torque (no clutch engaged). I only use the screw mode when I'm working with small screws generally.
