hi all.

i was wondering if any body has any info on improvin the dust extraction efficiency on a table saw.

You should post what type of saw you have so that others with the same or similar can make accurate comment. Generally speaking, enclosing the base, using central DC system, and having a blade guard would be first steps. [thumbs up]

ok record power 315 with sliding carrage and scoring blade. i replaced the crown guard with an axminister overhred guard  and created  a funnel towards the dust port at the back. this funnel is only hard board and is only meant to be a stop gap measure until i can redesign the system when i take the saw appart to maintain it , because there is a small opening in the side only which makes getting anything in imposable. what i was looking for was any info on redesigning a "funnel" and best practice for sealing around the openings in saws cabinet.

I just made a video showing 4 different dust collection upgrades I made to my table saw.  They really go a long way in making the table saw much cleaner.  Hope it helps.

holy thread revival batman.
omg its 5 1/2 years ago

I didn't upgrade the dc on the saw since. it works fairly good but its more of a gravity system below the table.

Oh wow I didn't even notice that date when I posted the video today.  Didn't realize that the thread was that old.  The thing that was the biggest game changer for me was the overarm collector that I built recently.  I've had the dust under the table under control for awhile now but the dust spitting off the back of the blade always annoyed me. I'm really happy with the overarm collector especially since it works with a cross cut sled.

Nothing wrong with adding to an old thread.  It helps with searches.

nothing wrong with old threads. I was only joking .
I have run my saw without the overhead arm and you can really see (and feel) the dust flying off the blade

A roller sleeve makes a great adapter if you don't have a 50 mm hose with you.

That's a great idea, I'll have to remember that for times when I don't have my larger hose with me on site.  Thanks for the tip.

Here's the follow up video to my previous video on table saw dust collection upgrades.  I made this video by popular demand showing how to build the overarm dust collector that I showed in the last video.  Hope you guys find it helpful.
