Does anyone know which Lee Valley, or other, template guides and inlay kits work with the 1400 router?

Thanks,

JC

I use a standard Porter-Cable ring set from Woodcraft, and it works fine. I don’t know about an inlay kit.

The Festool part number for the adapter is 493566 and it appears to work with the "industry standard" Porter Cable style bushings. From the Lee Valley website it would appear the adapters have a diameter of 1 3/16".  If you are in North America your router should come with the adapter (part number: 493566) to use Porter Cable style bushings. This Lee Valley set is likely to work, which could be a starting point if you wanted to use them as the source for both the inlay and general template guides.

Our own Peter Parfitt has produced a nice video on the Whiteside Inlay kit with a Festool router.

Worth a watch if you've got a min. to search for it.

I have the Leigh dovetail jig and I started off using my OF 1400 with it. I needed the Festool 493566 adapter for the Leigh Guide Bush (the VGS 700 V).

It just so happens that the Festool adapter takes all of the UJK Metric Thread Guide Bush set (which I have had for years):

Now that I use the OF1010 for my Leigh dovetail work I have the Leigh 704R adapter which takes the same guide bush (VGS 700V).

So now I have two Festool routers that can use the same complete set of UJK guide bushes which has sizes 10,12,14,16,18,20,24 and 30mm and is just £33.

Thanks everyone. I figured out that the US version of the 1400 accepts Porter Cable compatible template bushings.
So I purchased the Lee Valley inlay set and tried doinf a bow tie. This is maple inlayed into walnut. Worked pretty well for the first time. The only thing I don't like about the LV set is that it uses a 1/4" router bit where the Whiteside version uses a 1/8". I think I will order the Whiteside version so I have both.
Cheers,
JC
