I just picked up the CT26 and TS55 , I"m thinking about buying a Dust Deputy system for it , which one do you have and do you like it ?

there's a pretty good thread on the UDD.  Think you will find almost universal praise for the product with some hints for improved interface with FT vacs.

UDD ?

I have the metal version of the Oneida cyclone with their metal dust bucket - not sure if they sell it anymore or just the plastic version. I use it with my CT33 and instead of mounting on top, I have it at the back of the CT with the cyclone and Oneida metal bucket and the CT33 on a mobile base so it all moves together. This way I can still put Systainers on top of the vacuum. Works great with my boom arm. Obviously this is for shop use. I love it and have not had to change the bag for about a year now.

Ultimate Dust Deputy UDD uses a big Systainer modified with the cyclone on top. Pricey.

I saw that when I bought my CT26 , Woodcraft sells it fro $199 .  Just a heads up next weekend they are having 15% off all none power tools in the store . I'll get something at that time to take advantage of the sale .

Thanks for all the help .

Frankly I would just get a long life bag and not bother with the DD contraption.

I got myself an cyclone central one on special, but when you add the extra hoses, connectors, dust box and the DD together you end up with a much higher total price than just getting a longlife bag in the first place.

And as an added bonus you don't need to plan your shop to accommodate the cyclone + dust box monstrosity. [big grin]

I have one of each. You lose suction with the DD and so far the Long Life Bag has been a delight to deal with. Eric

I also was thinking about the UDD, but as others have suggested I would get a long life bag instead.

I haven't had the same experience as Eric as the suction seems the same before I got the Dust Deputy for Festool and after.  I can't really comment on the long-life bag as I have never used one, but you would still have to empty this into another container/garbage bag and create a bit of a dust storm would you not?  The whole reason I went with the Dust Deputy for Festool was so all the debris would go straight into a plastic bag that I have inside the systainer.  When full, all I have to do is lift off the top and tie the bag without any of the dust.

The ultimate dust deputy is the best compliment to a festool vac to ever come around. No loss of suction, just an amazing product, get it and you'll see.

I have a small amount of loss of suction bc i built my own before the idea was stolen from this forum and specifically a forum member who is no longer here by Oneida. I didnt have any engineers or budgets to make it perfect, but im sure theres is very nice. I wouldnt support them though, Eric

As Eric mentioned, you can build your own.  Check it.

All new parts, you are looking at around $140.  I snagged a sys 4 off Craigslist for real cheap, so there was no second thought about cutting a hole in it.  With the rigid foam top there is no suction loss, and systainers fit on the CT nicely.  I think mine was $75 give or take a few, including the cyclone.

I'm a bit bias, but I think the sys DD looks better than the UDD too.

I have both the the shop vac version and the SDD (connected prior to my primary DC) - both work great. A bit of a revolution, actually. I agree that the systems are 95% profit for Oneida - the DD (shop vac version) is a rigid plastic thing that cost at least $2 to make; however, it works, and was rated a Best Buy by Fine Woodworking and several others. I don't mind somebody making money on me so long as I get the functionality and value I demand - think of Festool here. The SDD has been the real win - I upgraded a run-of-the-mill single-stage Delta to a HEPA sub-micron filter, and am collecting no fines in the bag. The suction has improved, due to the larger surface area of the Wynn Environmental bag, made possible because the SDD captures most of the particulate.

SDD ?

I'll have to find another way to provide access to the pictures - the files are too large for the upload maximums.
