I agree!!

Not worth the money if your going to use it for roofing.

The other things like I have demonstrated like cutting oak curves etc its perfect  cutting using the rail can be very handy.

Dean, couldn't you just turn the job over in your mind (or the boards if they already had some other joints cut) so that the pointy side was up? Then the guide rail could have stayed on the solid boards.

The bar is not getting lubrication. That is despite the bar being clean and the 2 holes are not clogged. The oil pump is working as oil flows out.
The oil flows around the bar face and inside and around the plastic support surface, but wont go into the bar holes as the chain is always dry.
Yes I tested the red knob that selects oil 1,2 and full position.
Im using standard bar oil, even tried thinning it with kero.
NOTHING WORKS!!!
What is there left to consider anyone???
 
No one responded?  [eek]

Don't think I've ever noticed it being dry ill have a look when I get t out next time in about a months time have oak job to do.

I can't think of many here who have the sword saw especially because it is not available here in North America.  Have you contacted your Festool office?

I'm really quite confused.

A question was posed on November 20, 2021, and then that same question was triple-quote-posted again by the same person..... 16 months later?

Was any attempt made to contact Festool Australia over the course of those 16 months?  I've heard some horror stories about FAus, but even that seems a little excessive...
 
I just wish the sword saw was around 20 years ago...I decided to stuff the insulation cavities with multiple layers of foam board and at the time not much else was available other than fiberglas.

It was a long and slow process because each foam insert had to be cut individually as ganging the items was not an option. I had to manufacture my own cutting tool at the time and each panel had to be cut individually.

If you're wondering...it was well worth the effort.  [smile]

I've always hated the Swordsaw for insulation... in fact, I rather use a hand saw...

Basically wielding a chainsaw about and constantly having to make sure nothing is underneath like your bench or your legs  [big grin] just ain't much fun, especially for smaller pieces...  Pretty much have to use it on a rail all the time to make sure you have straight cuts... the Finish cut is also poor

Now the FESTOOL ISC 240 18V is brilliant!  I love it for both rock wool and PIR insulation...

Cuts like Butter through rock wool... No need to compress it...you can cut in midair nice clean cut.

I love it the most for PIR really clean smooth cuts low dust if used with an extractor... Can be used on and off the rail easily..

I mainly used it off the rail it's easy to follow your lines free hand and saves messing about with a rail that doesn't stick anyway..
