Happy Slabsgiving to all...

This slab has been sitting around for a few years, it was thrown in by my slab guy a couple purchases ago due to the twist. Apparently it came out of the kiln that way. Best guess, if I tried to mill out the twist, it'd end up around 4/4.

Late last winter we adopted a 7-month-old feline. I'd been clearing out unused tools and had a big bin of packing materials sitting atop a rolling cart under a big picture windows in our upstairs dormer, aka Stinky's favorite perch. This summer we added a 12-week-old little brother who follows Stinky around doing the little brother me-too thing. The two knuckleheads tussle over the perch and as Squeaky has grown they no longer fit on it together. I've also been wanting to retire the shipping station since it's a bit unsightly.

Anyway, while staring at the slab pile recently it occurred to me that their perch didn't have to be flat, Wa-La the Potato Chip table was born.

I settled for removing the bandsaw milling marks and cleaning up the ends a little, RAS 115/RO 125/RO 90 soft pad up to 100 then eased the edges and hand-sanded to 120. Least overdone prep job I think I've ever managed. 2-3 coats of Osmo and I'm calling it a perch.

Hopefully tomorrow I can whack out the tripod legs, picked up some 2 by 3/16 angle yesterday and I'm aiming to similarly dumb that down. It's all new to me, over-thinking is typically how I roll.

OOO, Richard!  You might consider making a tabletop marbles game from this warped slab.  A few strategically-placed round-bottom holes with a depth about half the diameter of your favorite marbles could be quite challenging.  [big grin]

Updating an old thread. Cobbled together some 8020 to provide a level base for milling, shimmed up the slab and laid out some pockets for the legs.

The legs are all the same length, depth of the pockets "level" the top.

Setting aside the questionable experiment in finishing, a smashing success as a feline perch (w/heating pad)...

Only reason it's permitted indoors is that it lives in my office/workroom... along with numerous other banned treasures. Even then the designer-in-chief mutters and glares 2 out of 3 times she enters the room.
